I know it's cold at the moment. but my Zed has started to moan at me!

 

There is a nasty creaking sound coming from somewhere and its driving me mad. I'm really hoping this is a known problem and I can track down where it is coming from and get it sorted.

 

The noise is not constant, but it is there about 90% of the time. It doesn't stop or start once you are driving, just sometimes when you get in its there and sometimes its not.

 

It seems to be coming from the front right side of the car. I thought it might have been the suspension, but it seems to be coming from the inside of the car. It is definately at the front of the car, up near the front windscreen. It sounds like something is moving about slightly when it shouldn't be.

 

Any advice is welcome on this one, I'm starting to get paranoid about the windscreen colapsing!

is it a creak or a squeeking noise?

sounds exactly like what i jad. Do a search for "creak" i'm sure youll find plenty on it, but basically i reckon its your top links

if it was a squeeking i had it and it was my bonnet hinges!

It's not a sqeak, its a definate creaking

As Scoops says - top links. I've got the same problem and have changed/oiled everything else and now I've got a replacement set to go on.

yup i changed everything else too, appart from the top links, but i sold it before i got around to changing them

ive got the same sort of noise when i go over the slightest bump there is a creaking noise, it sound alittle like plastice rubbing against plastic seems to be coming from front right side near windscreen....HELP!!!!

ive also got the creak on my passenger side.

just waiting till the new year to get the bearing modification for the upper arms.

is it not the rubbers or somthing to do with the targa roofs?

 

Mine made a creaking noise and when O push on the targa's it stops.

 

May be woth a try!

I've just bought a zed & it is doing exactly the same thing.

 

I did a search & found that silicon spray could be the answer. Just spray some in the gap between the dash & windscreen.

 

If you do try it, let me know if it works as I haven't had my zed back yet!

As said deffo sounds like link arms. Tried drowning mine in wd40 a while back. waste of time. replacement is the only option. Very expensive new, but you might get a good used set off one of the traders here.

I am having the same problem now it's cold :smash:

Its the targas - i remember in the good old days when my Z actually had an engine (almost ice age now :rofl: ) when i drove it on a cold morning, the ice between the targas and the roof would creek every time i went over a bump, went round a corner....

i've read lots about top link bushings creaking on cold mornings, so you have a few things to check now :)

Mine also had an annoying creak , turned out to be the anti roll bar mounting bushes , gave them a squirt of silicon spray , sorted :dance:
