Yes, the dreaded Code34.

Its a fair amount of labour involved to replace (and about £100'ish) for the sensor.

or you can bypass it in minutes for a few pence

Yes it will put it in Safety boost. Other than that I cant help. Well I could have a guess like normal but we all know it will be wrong! :D

ok have checked the ecu again and well now im getting code 55 so i think i have an intermitent fault

It will usually go into Safety mode and give error with det sensor after you have driven it and gone into boost. It often is Intermitent though becuase the error can mean that its the det sensor harness that has a bad connection rather then the actual failing of the sensor itself.

Take her up the road then test without switching ignition off.

That might be because the DET sensor resets itself when the ignition is turned off, I think.

Not sure if the ECU will sore the code for you or not?

good point think i will have to do one or the other but just cant afford to get the work done right now and after 9th december im not going to be able to get it done for a long time anyway

Or maybe find out why your car is detting and run it in saftey boost untill its fixed? ;)

Code34 is not detting. Code34 means there is no signal being received by the ECU from the Det sensor. (Det sensor or harness faulty)

:nana2: Once again my help and advise is utter drivel :D ! :nana2: :slap:

was starting to get worried about you Nick....Glad your back on form :D

yea, as said - code 34 does NOT mean you have det. just the det sensor circuit is faulty.

it puts you into safety boost as it has no way of knowing if you are detting or not

how risky is it to bypass the det sensor it will only be done short term as i hopefully will be getting some work done on the car soon enough

depends if you are detting or not :D
