where were the police?

Too busy with their speed guns most likely.

To be fair if no one reports it in time they are not gonna know and thats most likely whats happened. People will bib their horns and call the guy a ****er when they see him but not reoprt it.

yeh i would agree except from my past experience where i reported someone causing a potential hazzard to tens of people at high speed and the cops did nothing...

i called them three times and they just said i should back off...er..no!

plus, im sure someone reported him in 14 miles!

Without doin the calculations fully he must have been drivin on the wrong side for at least 10 mins if he was doin 70mph longer if he was at 60mph and nobody saw it ???

i doubt he was doing that kind of speed travelling in the wrong direction, two cars hitting eachother at 60 is a relative collision speed of 120, none of the occupants would have survived that.

which makes it even worse that the police didnt respond as he would have been driving for longer than just 10-15 minutes.

Thats terrible :(

He was seen and was reported several times, as per the News link above. It just takes time to get units mobile and to the correct part of the motorway.

I dont know that particular area but often a motorway junction can be a good 10-15mins drive from town/police station and that is if they get on at the correct junction when they may not know the vehicles exact location and speed.

even if he was doing 10mph youre still lookin at an equivalent force to that of an 80mph crash minimum...

dont forget probable braking of at least one of the cars before collision

fyi, when i reported a completely out of it driver (heroin or something, musta been!) the police didn't wana know. didnt ask location or anything, yet they said they were sending out a patrol car. *****cks! i spent an hour + loadsa petrol protecting people from the nutcase woman!

If he travelled 14 miles then he should have been seen on at least 3 or 4 camera's. The place (as you locals will know) is platered with them?

What beats me is how someone who has obviously been driving on these roads for some time can do such a stupid thing.
