Reading other threads I thought its time for a poll?

He had a 2nd chance at life and blew it!....but deserve to die is a bit harsh

I voted YES. I dont think he deserved to die as such, its a shame that anyone goes down that path money, fame and fortune or not.

 

But he had many more oppertunities to sort himself out than most in his situation. Still a shame he didnt have the strength to fight it.

To me he wasn't a legend, but he was to some. I have zero interest in football and he was well before my time and all I know him for was a drunkard.

 

RIP though.

i dont even believe he should of got his second chance surely the medical proffesion should have realised he would not change his habbits he was nothing more than a rich drunk imho

Sadly, someone else who'd had that liver probably wouldn't have wasted the second chance at life.

I don't think anyone deserves to die though unless they've comitted murder or something equally evil.

How ironic is that. the day before george Best dies they introduce a 24 hour drinking policy. I bet he'll be turning in hes grave.....when he gets there.

For the same reason as musitions, race car drivers, painters, or anyone else with a tallent that someone else can apreciate can become a legend.

 

Best was not a legend to me, but was for others. Why argue it or try to understand why? Just accept he was for some same as you most likely have people you admire that others might not.

Agreed....but who was he erh...in the grand scheme of things? He didn't even play for England in the world cup? Can't understand why he gets as much coverage as if the Queen were to pop her clogs.

....he has made it onto the cover of EVERY single newspaper...bar the FT. Good God, there's people dying in Niger from starvation and they put his face on every single paper.

I agree with you Nick. It dont matter. He was famous and will be remembered for as long as football is played. How about Elvis. Hes problem was food. But at the end of the day not really much different. I didnt cry when he died either.

Yup, but news is only as good as the people who want to read about it. Many more people want to read about football than tennis. Thats just the way it is.

i think you guys seem to forget he was the first "superstar" footballer and was the first to get loads of money, girls and all the trimmings and no one to guide or help him, not saying a bit of self discipline wouldnt have gone a miss but lets face it if over night everyone loved you threw money at you you got invited to everyparty and every girl wanted to be with you would you be able to stop????

 

It is a shame and he was a footballing legend and it says it all by the comments by Pele who asked who is the greatest footballer to live and he said George Best!!! enough said...RIP your the BEST
