Just been looking through some old car photographs, and came across a couple of my old cars.

My first 2.8i Capri, LVP 48X, this was taken at Badgers Hill, Sheriffs Lench, Evesham, sometime back about '91. She had just been re-sprayed back to her original Colbalt Blue over Strato Silver, with the thin twin stripes and polished Pepper Pot alloys as it would have come out of the factory back in 1981 (first 2.8i production year) I'd brought it with a body kit fitted, which was hiding some accident damage .....

And another one of her taken at my (then) home in about '93/94. Still looking good, except for a light rusting area between the lower front valance and off side wing....

Now this one is my second 2.8i Capri, a later 1984 version. The only, subtle, difference (from this view) is that the striping is thick over thin. The other main difference is that the interior was vellor Recaro seating and door trims, as opposed to the tarten, and slightly less plush looking, interior of the earlier '81/82 cars....

Still got the TTZ and the Bandit.. :nana2: :hyper:

....fitted some bits and bobs and a Calibra V6 engine and turned it into something fairly nice.

That is actually v.nice Si

Nope, I sold it last summer. Was due to change it a few years ago, in and out of work until recently, so lack of funds meant I had to keep onto it for a while longer. It wasn't bad to drive. Got quite a bit of attention, went fairly well and sounded good....not too loud, but a nice V6 burble coming from a topless Astra was nice (and uncommon), especially through tunnels. :)

Like it bud :nana2:

Got Character and style......Individulism (spelling)?

I think its probably the only vauxhall(opel) I like apart from the Manta 400

Cheers pal. :)

I like some of the old skool Opel/Vauxhalls. Quite partial to the Manta, I also like the Monza GSE, Lotus and GSi Carltons, Firenza and Opel Ascona coupes. Much of the newer stuff doesn't really interest me though. I have a MK4 Astra as well at the moment and I hate it. Getting a brand new MK5 soon which are quite a bit nicer.

Here's a Manta I really like.

That one's had the original 1.8 CIH engine turbo charged. Not mental power, but it utilises all the original components pretty much.

There's a few on the continent running around with 3.0 straight 6 24v engines. Should be able to cram a Lotus Carlton engine in there I would have thought as they are basically the same engine.

I do remember a purle wide arch MantaV8 some years ago...not the same person is it?

This is NOT the same car, but a MK1 Cavalier Coupe....basically identical to the Manta. This one has a Zender wide arch kit on it. :)

Rich, what's that front bumper mate? Like it a lot.

Some very classy motors in this thread generally. Feel quite dull by comparison: only ever had two cars, a '98 series III Renault Clio 1.6 RXE... and the zed, so I guess I'm making up a bit. Particularly liking the old Mantas. Getting very rare nowadays unfortunately... not that I ever remember them being that common in the first place.

lol, as per my previous post, the manta gte was one of

my all time faves, had mine in 'barryt' brown, a real light

brown metallic, sounds shite, but looked real nice.

Just wish i could find a photo of it!

Instead, heres pic of me on my bike...

May be of interest to blackmagic ;)

It's the only one that isn't too big to upload!

excellent bud

By the looks of the marking tape and front shocks I would say early 90's??? (although the rear swing arm would suggest late 90's)

Good to know theres more of us out there :hyper:

lol, that was quick! Was actually a 99 suzuki rm250.

Photo taken circa summer '01.

Originally swapped it for a 99 yz 125, just couldn't get

the hang of riding a 125! Later found out that the suzuki

previously belonged to Matt Bates (planit promotions) a

former british championship runner, needless to say it was

'slightly' tuned!' I was like a 'shirt on a washing line on a windy

day', every time i opened it up! :D
