Hello chaps. I would like to bend your ears. What advantage do you get from removing the hicas? I have heard a lot of people mentioning this mod. but was thinking that if those little jap men thought it was worth all that research and millions of yen how come so many want it taken away?

Problem is Nice, most of the time it is not fully functional on our cars :( when it is working 100% it can be a very worthwhile system, all too often though it is not working and makes the car handle like a jelly on a plate :(

Using a HICAS eliminator stops the wobble and stiffens up the arse end ten fold.

Quoted by Chris "Using a HICAS eliminator stops the wobble and stiffens up the arse end ten fold"

Unfortunately this is NOT the case if the original hicas arms are worn and are not replaced at the same time, if you have to replace these, surely no point fitting the eliminater then

I always advise people to replace these as well so stop looking for a fight as per usual roll

jeff do you recommend hicas removel, (eg) if all suspen components were in good conition and then someone decided to eliminate hicas will there be noticeable difference is hicas complicated to remove.

Noooo... you do me a diservice young man, on this occassion I was simply voicing MY opinion, hicas removal is a matter of choice, but it can get costly if it requires new parts to be fitted along with it, often parts that the customer has not been pre-warned about, I see you mentioned though you always point this out to customers which is good practise ..not all traders especially on e-bay type places are so forthcoming. ;)

nad300: No if all is working with the hicas and no wear and tear as such, then leave it because unless you drive like a nutter I doubt you will notice much diffence, as Chris said it is the changing of WORN parts that makes the bigger noticable diffence.

What do you think for someone who want to drift with a 300zx??

Do i need to remove the hicas?

Bubuche,

Rather than remove completely just fit a switch to turn it off when your in drifting mode, get the best of both then.

Locate the hicas power supply and wire a switch inline, fit the switch in the cabin area and fit a warning light that as a default comes on when it is disabled, that way you do not forget to put is back on later.

This is really a good idea.

But I wanted to buy a rear upper control arm and they say that we need a HICAS eliminator...

im doing mine but also changing the outer bushes as mine are fecked. only doing i as the hicas steering arm thingy is worn and needs replacing anyway, plus a picked up a brand new HICAS eliminator for under a 100 quid.

My HICAS works fine as per the pedal pump and wheel wiggle test .. I think it rocks .. Don't remove it if it's not working fix it..

i not sure how the hicas works (i know it 4ws) but as chris says about the wobble i dont notice any when driving on road but if i touch the white lines i do feel a wobble can the hicas tell what surface its on and does this mean mines nacked

Mine used to do that .. It was knackered HICAS arms now fixed £55 each If I rem ..

would i have to do that if i removed the hicas

Yep you are advised to change the arms when fitting the bar .. So fit the arms first. "They are the same". Do the HICAS test to see if it's working. If it is leave it..
