Is this a common thing to go on the 300zx as i have a suspision that one of mine has started to leak a little causeing oil to go onto the hot area of the turbo and manifold. Also how many hours am i looking at to do it as ive just looked and there is soooooooooooo much stuff to remove FFS. Wish i had a normal car LOL. Any recommendations of what else to think of doing whilst i have the plenum off?

Yes very common, basically for some unknown reason Nissan fitted gasket seals to the two top cam covers but only sealant to the lower two, you can guess which ones cause the problem eh?

Time wise plenum off intake bits and bobs and then covers, reseal and replace, a good days work to be fair, expect extra cost for plenum gaskets and water pipes that WILL need replacing, now guess what job I need to do on mine?

I did mine, it took me 2 weeks but only getting like an hour here an hour there....is a time consuming job, i had smoke from the LH side of the engine as you say with oil burning on manifold. Mine is actually leaking again slightly as I didnt use the correct silicone........bummer.

If your taking the plenum off, you could have a look at the water by-pass (details in the FAQ section) sorts out lots of tossy little pipes and makes it easier to put the plenum back on.

My suggestion to you: Label everything! :)

Know how yer feel mate :( doing mine right after xmas. TT.net has a good write up on injector swap which covers everything you'll need to do and lists all the parts you'll need as well. Good luck ;)
