Has any body had similar problem ?

1993 Jap spec TT running HKS lowered Uprated suspension.

The front tyres on my Z were wearing down to the wire they were fine when i bought it 6 months ago approx 1000 miles covered since.

Ive replace the fronts now but have been told by one of my work friends who is a technician that the front is ok, he has tracked it, but it requires a full 4 wheel alignment as its the 4wheel stear which has caused them to scrub out ?

They went on the inner edge on both fronts.

My local tyre guy i use wants £40 for the job and £20 per adjustment :x:

Yes £20 per adjustment. :x:

i have done a search but did not find anything.

Cheers

I asked about four wheel alignment and the guy at National Tyres reckoned the best way he would do it is to reverse it on the machine to do the rear and turn it round to do the front?

I am no expert, but does that not conflict with the with having all 4 wheels alighned together to make sure that all the suspension steering is set up and matched at the same time. ( did that make sense ?)

There are a few places that do four wheel alignment. I know its harder to do than turn the car around FFS. Hope you told mr National tyres to stick it. The places i know are up north. I know Djtomo had his done and im sure it had somthing to do with lasers because they have to line up all wheels with each other and not just the two on the same axle. He will be on soon ;)

We used to have Hoffman 4 wheel dynaliner where i worked a few years ago and your right the whole car is raised on the ramp to free wheel and all for wheels have laser attached . Im ok with that part. i just could not understand how the rear wheel steer would throw the fronts out on the inner edge ?. :D I can use a place in Colchester who are ok but its a lot of money that im not sure i need to spend !! :D

:hyper: WEYYYYYYYYY, i got somthing half right LOL. Gotta type faster :D

I think you will find that the track is not the issue but more likely the camber!

Common especially on lowered Z's-deffo get a proper four wheel alignment done but bear in mind the camber is not adjustable-hence why adjustable front links are popular! ;)

Ask Jack on the forum who did his four wheel alignment at Martlesham Heath near Ipswich, cost about £100 I think.

Thanx for all your advice  i think i no what i need to do now

Tony :D

If you have a llok at yellow pages for your area and try to find anywhere that specialises in rally cars - they should be able to point you in the right direction for 4 wheel align.

Up here it's about £80, very dependant on the operator knowing what he is doing.

Most tyre chains don't even know what it is, as you have found out.

Agree with you - can't see how rears misalign could affect fronts equally wearing on inside.

Sounds like a specific-to-front-wheels problem - and camber sounds right.

from what i recall, the tyre place needs a special tool to lock the rear-wheel stear while they do the adjustments, since i talked with Nissan dealer once about this and say sent me of to Honda (mmm go figure) who turned round and said they needed the special Nissan locking tool, which of course Nissan didn't have, so for me i'm still looking for someplace who knows what there on about and can do a decent job, since mine still pulls to one side, grrrrr when i change front tyres i'll get it all sorted once and for all.

yes mate as already said its your camber on the front

I had similar problem fitted adjustable camber arms sorted

also got hicas eliminator on

dont know about all this prices but mine cost £40 to set camber toe on front and toe on the rear on 4wheel laser alignment

I installed a TEIN flex suspension kit along with some new tension rods and adjustable top links. I too scrubbed the inner edge of my fronts out, but it was the camber. They were running at about 2 degrees negative! I set them that way to try it as the tyres were old anyway, but I think I will stand them up a bit when I fit new ones... ;-)

nope! ;)

The problem with four wheel alignment system is if a less than qualified operator assumes the rear wheels are correctly tracked and they are not correctly tracked, the whole exercise is futile, the rear wheels must be tracked independantly first then when they are absolutely correct they can be used as refence for the fronts.

Inner edge wear as said by others is a common problem on the zed caused by camber problems from lowered or worn springs.
