ok, was driving to work this morning and just starting to turn out on to a roundabout (turning straight left into next road) and my engine cuts out so of course the steering got very heavy and i was doing like 20.

 

not happy!!! :rant:

 

Anyone know what might cause an auto zed to cut out like this?? :confused:

I had this on mine ages ago and it was a air leak..

 

Thats what i was thinking cos it happened on the mazda zedos i used to have too, the worst bit is that its an automatical so i have to go into park to restart it, at least i think i do, not really too sure as its my first auto and i dont really want to break anything :x:

 

Luckily a couple of the guys from the forum are going to have a look over the car and check the ecu for me on saturday morning, hopefully they'll find out all of my problems.

It happened again this morning, twice!!!

 

Its really p***ing me off now,

sounds like the PTU has a dry joint always seem to cut power when the car heats up as the dry joint leg expands and moves away from the contact....there was link to the Aus 300zx club on how to DIY fix...but its dead link now....anyone copied it off ? :(

 

a series 2 PTU was made to overcome the series one shortcomings

 

PTU = power transistor unit

Also just tried starting it in 'N' and it wouldn't start :rant: :rant: :rant:

 

Im having no luck so far with the car am i??

 

I think its payback for not buying a zed straight away and leaving it for a year of wanting one ! ! ! :headvswal
