How wide on standard rears?

Me again!!

Right as u know i got a basically standard 1990 NA import manual. I've got 225 45's on the front and 245 45's on the back BUT i don't know if it has the british (slightly wider) WHEELS on the rear. All i know is that its got the 245's on it.

What i need to know is how wide can i go on the back cos i need to replace them and 255 45 16's are a lot cheaper than 245 45 16's so i is a thinkin :oD

Please help asap cos they're now down to slicks as i forgot to look at them til i broadsided acroos all three lanes of the M6 after a slight aquaplane incident :oS

If you have UK spec rear wheels then going for 255/45/16 will be fine. 255s are OK on 8.5 inch wide rims and the overall diameter of the wheel/tyre is not affected that much.

If you have 7.5 wide j-spec rears then I'd say no - in fact if you have 245/45 on j-spec rims that's probably too wide mate.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
