Is there one trusted company to use to scan/sweep your pc for viruses etc?

I am getting extremely pi55ed off with pop ups etc, and now seem to have some extra advert kinda bar with IE.......

I paid for one, noadware or something and it does comes up with loads of "severe" stuff when I scan. I delete them but it makes no difference, in fact if I were to scan again, straight away, they all seem to come up again.

My limited pc knowledge is all self taught, I was just thinking there must be one good company to use ???? And is that something I should pay for?

Thanks in advance. All help or advice appreciated.

Was that noadware from LAVASOFT?

reason i ask is....

Because their is a dodgy version loaded with spyware called noadware...

The proper version is from LAVASOFT called Ad-aware..note the slight spelling difference ;)

Hmmm........ I reckon it might've been the dodgy version. I've uninstalled/deleted it now. Fookin "winfixer" pop up is doing my head in too.

I use about 6 different programmes to keep mine clean...Its stopped everything for about 8 months now :hyper:

This is the only combination that ive found that actually works 100%

Norton is poop

Zonealarm is poop and reaks havoc with networks and wireless stuff...unless you know what you are doing :nelson:

Microsoft antispyware

Ad-aware se-profesional

Spyware Doctor

AVG 7.0

SpyBot search and destroy

Spyware blaster

FIREFOX browser

These are all freebies found on google except for "Ad-aware se pro" which I may be able to help you with ;)

I run them all at once and if you need to clean the system then stagger the starting of each programme and it will remove the little fookers that keep re-installing themselves everytime you delete them(crafty fookers...lol)

you only need three..

xoftspy finds and kils things other checkers never can or will

window washer to clean up all those crappy files that come down as temps etc..

kaspersky personal suite, anit virus, firewall, anti spam. this is the best, and updates every hour, goes into sleep mode until it sees something it doesnt like, pre scans web sites and kills items norton, avg and mcafee cant.

i put all 3 on my new builds and have never had one come back with an infection.

Kaspersky Pro does not cater for x64 XP though...

said before.. ask for the beta..
