Well I have found out why I have gone through a new set of rear tyres in 3 weeks. The alignment was 15 degrees out, so both wheels were pointing toward the middle of the car. This would explain all my handling problems especially in the alps.

The Hicas wasn't working apparently but I think it is now although does anyone know how to check?

As you have probably read I haven't had much luck in my month or so of ownership and just when I thought it was running right it started losing power at 70mph driving down the M6 on xmas eve so I kept the throttle down to keep the car going. I bought the 300 thinging it would be reliable but Iv'e spent well over a grand and something else is wrong. BOO HOO! BOO HOO!

15 f*king degrees ??????

Man, WHO installed the car.

There's NO WAY a professional tire dealer coundn't notice a ***15*** degrees error on a wheel !!!!!!!!!!

And...no doubt you had problems driving this car....it's avec amazing that you stayed on the road !!!

The HICAS WAS working...as it has no way to correct for an alignment error...

Basically...if you have the HICAS, if you have no "red" hicas light on the dashboard, it's working....otherwise...put it in diagnostic mode....

Basically, Z ARE reliable....provided they are well maintained, and NOT (or smartly) modified.

I know, I have one with 180.000 km, the second has probably 150.000 ++ km

If you get a FrankenZ (my way to refer to JPN modded Z with tons of guizmos....sometimes incorrectly removed), or tweaked by a "local-hero-self-proclaimed-Z-expert"...well, I'm sorry for you, but you'll have to MAKE it reliable, and this may be expensive

i'm with Henri here.

your car must have been all over the road.

I would have had an alignment check long before now....

that much tyre wear should have been noticeable within a few days, let alone 3 weeks.

have you no recourse with wherever you got your car from ?

Not really when you buy a second hand car it's always sold as seen which gives tyou no comeback.

It's just been such a pain in the ass I really feel like putting in a ditch or something!

The latest thing is it's developed a misfire and starts kangarooing when you decelerate at about 2000rpm, theres nothing left to change I've even had a new TPS so god knows whats wrong with it now.

The last owner had the car 5 years and the owner before that was from new in 1991.

It's dumped me by the side of the road 5 times and has all sorts of weird vibrations when you drive along, probably from things getting excesivly worn from the alignment being out.

Thanks for listening to my woes.

Stuart

sorry to hear about all the ongoing problems Stu.

I'm sure we can all sympathise with you, i know i've been in a similar situation before.

Sounds like you could do with a very decent Z mechanic to check the whole car over for you.
