Spec of 300ZX

This is probably a really daft question but what where the option's on the ZX's, do they all come with cruise control etc, forgive me for asking a simple question but i'm new here.

Featured Replies

I think they all have cruise.

UK spec all have full leather electric seats I think but was an option on imports (mine has it).

Import auto's have a mode switch for power/hold modes.

Everything else is electric.

Air-con standard too.

Like any car they came with about a million options - The cruise was a option in Japan i believe as i have seen J Spec cars without

it - I also believe all UK cars had it as standard - Leather and seat adjuster were options on the UK depending on the year - the 94 had them as standard. UK cars were all twinturbo 2+2 Jspec came in NA, Twinturbo, 2 seater and 2+2 no matter what induction method - SUPER HICAS is on all TT but not NA's

96 + have a differnt ECU which is harder to write to (read : harder to upgrade )98 and 99 Jspecs are a very different spec with more safety and interior options - altho they are very rare !

Be sure you know the exact spec you are looking for before you buy !

Hey Matt!

Welcome to our little "dark" corner of the www!

The 300ZX (Z32) model was produced (between 1989 an 2000 as a very complete car, there were not many options to add (although this statement seems to be contradicted in the replies above ...) The car came in three body styles: (1) 2 seater, (2) 2+2 seater, and later (3) 2 seater convertible. There were also two engine choices: (1) normally aspirated 220bhp, and (2) twin turbo 280-300bhp. Although there isn't much difference between the US, Euro and Japanese specifications, the difference in bhp output for the twin turbo engines were basically due to different emmission standards. In general it is safe to assume that the Japanese spec cars are better equiped than either the Euro or US version. Cruise control was standard on all Twin Turbo models and as far as I know it was either not available or an option on the normally aspirated models. Super HICAS (Nissan's 4-wheel-steering gizmo) was only available on Twin Turbo models. Further options included (and this is not an all inclusive list): leather seats/trim, heated seats/windscreen, electric seats, fold-away mirrors (Jap only), adjustable suspension (US/UK), manual or auto transmission, sound system, climate control. Nissan did not make any external changes to the body panels until roughly 1999, but cars of that year were only produced for the Japanese market (sales abroad stopped around 1996 due to the relatively high price and stricter emmission parameters).

Anyway, I hope the above information has helped you a little. Need any more info - let us know, there are plenty of people on this forum with a lot of knowledge wink.gif

Cheers,

Danny

cruise must have been an optional extra as my jap TT does not have it frown.gif. mine is a 89 tho so maybe they added it as standard after?

Not sure about 'over-the-top image' but you might find this link useful for UK car info.

Just remember there are many Jap imports out there, they will probabaly have lower mileages, potentially less rust, but are unlikely to have all the service history and they are more to insure.

Good luck in your hunt.

Mines a 1992 Jap and doesnt have cruise, it was an option, and one I dont miss.

Not really much use on a Sports car.

While we're at it I have a very stupid two penneth to put in....

Do ALL TTs have HICAS??? Only reason I ask is I have a J spec TT and there's no obvious HICAS indicator/warning lamp on the dash so I always assumed that it didn't have it, knowing that the specs can differ quite a bit.

Should I have a HICAS lamp on the dash?? Could it just be the bulb has gone?? Might I have an even more serious problem??

Smurf,

If you can see this under the bonnet you have HICAS smile.gif

Cruise control - I think this first came in in 1995 on the japanese domestic market, together with SRS (air bag), although may not have been standard on all models.

HICAS - fitted on all TTs, and optional on NAs, to my knowledge. TT Tim's picture shows the Hydraulic HICAS. Electric HICAS started on 1994 imported TTs.

TT Ranges from 263bhp (UK auto) to 300bhp (US manual-B4 '96) .

NA 222bhp (US and Aus) to 230bhp (Jap spec.)

Hicas standard on TT/ optional on Jap spec. NA .

Cruise must at least have been an option on Jap cars since 1989 since my car (08/1989 manufacture date) has it..

our 91 Jap TT has cruise, leather seats, drivers seat is electric, passengers is manual, no heated seats, no heated wing mirrors but they do fold.

Aaron, Yes you are right, apologies. Cruise control was around from the beginning (89). I guess it must have been an option, as my Fairlady TT Manual does not have it.

What was the difference between ACC (pre-1995) and ASCD cruise control (which came in in 1995)? Any idea?

Thanks, Geoff

Not sure fully, but I do know that the controls moved from the wheel to a stalk when the airbag was introduced..

Oh lets not forget that Series II aircon (92 on) is much better than Series I aircon

both of which were optional, as standard a manual aircon system was fitted I believe..
