is there a way round it like, buying a front bumper which has the same sort of shape then taking it to a body shop and saying make this please, you will be amazed at what sum of these people can do, thats what happened with my side skirts, 36 man hours cutting and fiber glassing to how i wanted them, in my eyes i think thats the best and cheapist way round it, coz it will be megga £££££ otherwise.

yep thats what im doing to my viper bumper when i get if from luke, gonna modify it to look like the front bumper on my zed

Yep. I can speak from both sides of the fence as I've done a lot of fibreglass work such as custom dash design and enclosures for audio equipment but my car is also currently having some major custom work done over at Bodywork Plus (a trader on here). Although Steve has a basic shape to work with, he is essentially scratch building a complete (and radical) front and rear wide arch kit. People like Steve could make something from nothing but it really is better to give them at least a base to work from. Please bear in mind though that both methods will cost thousands, and I don't mean £2-3000, or even £4-5000...if they even have the time to do it (it's sooooo labour intensive and time consuming), a full kit, designed, built and fitted will be getting on for and probably going over 5 figures...and that's before the respray! ;)

Leigh.

Dream Machine do nothing but custom car coach work and because they do it all the time they would not be as expensive as Leigh is saying , but your still talking £5Kto £7K or arches, skirts front and rear bumper.

They say the average custom build and spray including wheels, interior, (ie Audio housings) and paintwork is around £10 to £15K.

I thought that's what roughly what I was saying!? :D ;)

Say between £7000- £11000 for either a basic or a more elaborate build then 3-4000 for a top quality paint job. That comes out between £10000-15000 :) Mind you, their price includes the audio build which can be a PITA as well so that's a pretty good actually! Never heard of them before either...about to do a search...:D

Meh. Having no luck finding them. You got a web address for them Mark as I'd like to have a butchers at their site if they've got one! :D

totally agree guys you need the money and the time to do this, it doesnt happen over night, mine was not on the 300zx seen for about 7 months due to me wanting it to be perfect, and the way i want it.

also, i carnt remember who said it but he hit the nail on the head when he said you need a base to work from.

also friday have you got pics of your inside coz im thinking of this for my laptop set up im doing, many thx.

I would if it was finished chap! :D Although all the audio gear is here, the computer side of things is still being spec'd up and put together by a mod from one of the in-car computer forums. Although I haven't spoken to him for a bit as he's recently got married and gone on honeymoon which has put a temporary halt to things...how inconsiderate of him! :p ;)

As far as screens for engine monitoring/DVD playback and replacing the clocks etc this two threads I posted might be of some help:

The trouble with replacing the clocks is getting it fast enough to be useable. HOWEVER! ;) There is a solution that I'm probably going to use myself (in for a penny, in for a pound and all that! ;)):

Check out the 1st link in my 4th post (the 2nd doesn't work anymore) and also this one: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/product/detail/0,,2076_4025_192089326,00.html

...Nice isn't it!?

You can pick them up quite cheaply from America as well...;)

The car's coming on really well thanks mate. Steve is doing an amazing job on the bodywork...had a text from him the other day saying the next time I see her I'll cry! I'm pretty sure he mean't that in a good way! Lol! :)

My mate in Japan who supplied me with the VH has got friends in Top Secret(he even offered me two of their cars, their new V35 Infiniti show car and the R35 that held the Jap 400 metre record...he must think I'm made of money...wrong! :D) and he's trying to get Steve and I a space somewhere at the next years Tokyo Auto Salon show which alongside John and I's tentative ly planned trip to the Nurburgring Ring and the rest of the show season, it's going to make 2006 a pretty exciting year hopefully! :)

Leigh

I don't know but I'm planning on finding out! :D

Can you post it up when you know? :)

When it goes in it'll be posted on here and in my Journal mate, no worries ;) Don't think it'll be just yet though as I need to buy a few more things for the engine and fork out for a bespoke airbag system from Rayvern Hydraulics! Did someone say money pit? Lol! :D

Good, thanks. It looks really interesting, I wonder how that "car simulator" thing works :)

Well if you put it that way. OK

I'll have a look in one of my old mags for the address. They must have a web site because Dream Machine is a registered trade Mark.

The guy over here called Marco has just set up a New Pioneer unit. Its only just been released a month or so ago. Its great. You can intergrate all your readings to it from your AVCR etc..........it even gives you a G-force display from your last drive. Not sure of the model though!!??
