girlfriend got me a xbox 360 without me knowing for christmas. this guy had 10 as he worked in the factory he was selling all 10 and he sold them all. my girlfriend payed by paypal (she would get the xbox on 15 dec). but today finds out he is no longer a registered member of e-bay and think she has been done. i dont know if we have been done we have sent him an email. my girlfriend did think it might be a scam so she said she couldn't pay by paypal so he offered his address to send cheque but she didn,t ask for it and payed by paypal. we are now £300 down am i covered by paypal or am i screwed :rant:

ebay/paypal wont help you if you dont get it, I know that from bitter experience

hmmmm you might be covered by paypal but they tend to be chosey at times, i would get on to paypal ASAP for good measure

No mate they wont do jack. in fact they have been taken to court recently in teh USA for the exact same reason as they advertise they protect you and it turns oout teh small print says they dont.

ebay/paypal usually contact you automatically in these cases, but get in contact with them and also your bank, hopefully your paypal is linked to your creditcard then you can get the money back quite easily in a month or so

When I had a problem paypal and ebay offered no help at all other than a standard email that they must send to everyone with a problem, my case was only a few pounds so I gave up but you definately need to put up a fight in your case.

Apparently in the States they're being sued because their "$1000 Protection" logo does not mean that a buyer is protected up to $1000, but actually means they are limited to paying out $1000 per SELLER!!!! :eek: :xxx:

he has just replied and said his bank details were wrong and thats why his account was suspended but i do have his address now so it could be ok. i will change my paypal to a credit card as it took the money from my bank account. thanks for the advice will keep you posted if it is a scam or not. if it is i will give him :slap:

Just be careful with ebay etc. I had a bad whack for a grand recently. What ever you do make sure you can trace and get your ££'s back.

 

Maybe best via credit card.

Granted it looks like a beast on paper, but i have read a good few reviews on the processor and they have a tendancy to overhead, so much so sony had to re-engineer a cooling system for it. The trouble is, the fans will be loud. I'm not denying it is a beast of a machine, but the xbox has always been my prefered choice.

 

As mentioned earlier there is a console for everyone...i mean there are some poor souls out there who swear by their sega saturn :(

 

Must admit though, poor graphics and horrendeous loading times aside the nintendo gamecube is an ace console, super smash brothers is mint!

specs dont mean jack to me its the games and xbox had the best games no question i had a ps2 so im not bias there just wasnt many games i thought were that good and that you could'nt get on xbox or pc or game cube

The XBOX 360 is basically a Apple Powermac with an ATI gfx card. Very fast and using proven technology. But it is to be seen if this time the XBOX can get the better games.

 

The PS3 is very nice for techie nerds like me but because its such a radical new design programmers are having a hard time with it. theinquirer.net reported that a games software company has to spend $20 million just to learn it. Then do some games.

 

Im not a microsoft basher. Its good when their is close competition between two rivals cos the consumer wins. I am very curious to see how the two consoles can be hacked or not to use pirate games.
