what's going on? get a grip

whats going on?

first off..... who are tdi anyway? is it torque developments? ive missed how all this thing started but from what i can gather its got into a pretty shitty situation.

secondly.... why cant everyone forgive and forget? ok.. someone may have said something non too clever about a certain company.... but why would they want to go to court over something so petty? it does not pay to bite the hand that feeds... everyone get a grip, ok what has happened has happened.. big deal.. just have a (virtual ) shake on it, go back to your respective corners and everyone lives to fight another day.. 300zx.co.uk has from what i can see has taken appropriate action to prevent this happening again.. we all get the message. lets wipe the slate clean. long live this great forum...

thirdly... does anyone know of a decent tuner in the north west area? somewhere do to a service etc?

take it easy everyone and keep on zedding

I was wondering the same thing.I never got to read the "TDI" thread as it was deleted B4 I could.

It all seems like a giant sledgehammer to crack a nut to me.Surely things have got out of proportion again?

Just sprung to mind after reading this post, would it not make sense to have a recomended supplier list on the site somewhere, that way all those with good experience of a company could post there details there. People could then make there own minds up about anyone not listed this might stop the new members coming on and asking what people think of certain companies, hopfully avoiding all the hassle that seems to be going on forever and threatening the forum as a whole. Just an idea from a Freshman (Zed house junior High LOL)

WE had a section with good and bad things to say about a company,But now it has gone and as far as I am aware no legal action was ever threatened in those posts.

MAC 1,

that worked, because real people posted their real experiences.

people did not post threats of violence against others, did not post accusations of child abuse, did not post bad experiences that never happened and did not post loads of other things that i could moan about.

but it stopped being used.

senna, sorry you feel you have to leave, not stopping you posting your opinions, just advising you that you need to be much more careful about what you post.

an opinion is one thing, but saying something about someone that you cannot prove is different, and needs to be worded differently.

So Craig, who exactly were you indirectly accusing of being liars, cheats and cowards?

Sorry that you felt that what I posted about the Data Protection Act was a threat towards you and Nick! But I pointed out the same to Dave Refault on the 200 board when he decided it would be a lesson to his members to publicise their IP addresses!

I agree with Glen, you can have my ISP if you really want the details and you know what my Email address is...but not everyone posts from home if you get my drift so I would have thought that providing IP addresses just because a company asks for them is a very fine line indeed.

Tim

So what about any one wanting to know info or experiences of a certain company posting Company Name, Date & Time for an MSN Session on said topic, wouldn`t that then relieve the forum of any future misunderstandings???

TDI are Torque Developments International who are managed by Nathan Lay and is said to be owned by Mark Catchpole. Though I had a PI check the situation out and found that daddy Catchpole is Dag Motors a few miles down the road.

So for resolution of any matter, maybe it might be more productive talking to the organ-grinder (daddy) instead of the paid monkies.

I've had a "situation" with TDI over the past few years but have no inclination to go into detail on this BBS for obvious reasons.

It's just that I recently read about legal action being threatened by their [TDI] solicitors and I was very interested to hear whom they might be.

So, again, if anyone can let me know I'd be grateful.

Yours,

J

Craig maybee it went on but it had not been brought to your attention as legal action was never threatened?

Well James now you have explained why you are here,I dont think any members will know the answer to that question.I think that only the moderator may know.

MAC1 HI mate just a thought about this moderater thing, who`s gonna be doing that at the time of morning we do some of our posts hehehe LOL. See ya after Clubland!!!!

Cheers Mac1!

Here's hoping,

J

I feel it is sad that Craig and Nico are now going to have to spend so much time moderating a list to avoid any chance of legal proceedings. Im quite happy to do it on my own BBS as I have had to work that way for quite a while now, but this BBS was more open which might have been a good thing or a bad thing.

It also means that anybody who has an issue with a tuner will hesitate to post anything, which in turn means new members may not be aware of issues with tuners, and that applies to all tuners. Theres good and bad stories about almost all of them, but nobody will ever post a bad story on here again.

Good luck to Craig and Nico.

JB

It all reminds me of the 80's when Robert Maxwell would hire teams of lawyers to scan every newspaper and magazine, or other publication, for the very slightest hint of criticism.

The moment anything was found they came down on anyone like a proverbial ton of bricks.

In the event, it was discovered that all that bullying bluster was just some smokescreen hiding the fact that Captain Bob (as he was called) was filching the pension funds of thousands of ordinary decent people.

Moreover, I cannot help but feel that moderating a list is dropping oneself into the proverbial. In the sense that, being a recognised "moderator", one is saying, in effect, that you are responsible.

It just leaves you open to comeback, such as, "Well, if you had moderated the list properly then (whatever) would not have happened".

And you cannot argue against it. As there is no legal definition of how a BBS should, or should not, be moderated... as it all comes down to legal opinion at the end of the day.

A far better stance is to maintain the, "It was nothing to do with me" option. But you cannot do that IF you are a recognised "moderator".

So please do tread carefully, guys.

Yours,

J
