My son has a 300ZX which he has had a few problems with.

 

One of the turbos failed. He took it to a garage that was recommended (in the west of England - where he was at the time). :headvswal - Nightmare. The garage replaced both turbos with recon units. But it is still not 'right'.

 

Any recommendations for an independent 'specialist; in Kent / Sussx / Essex?

 

Personal recommendation from perople who have had experience would be great.

It seems as if there is no boost (or very little boost).

 

I am no expert (as you've probably guessed) and it's not my car - it's my son's. But as he is in the Navy I posted this on his behalf.

 

He want's to fiond a reliable and knowledgeable place that will be able to look at it and tell hime what is wriong and what needs doing.

have you driven the car yourself ? if so where is the boost guague rising too and is there any wooshing air noises ?

its probably in safety boost,

or the oil from the turbos has goosed an 02 sensor

or the maf is goosed.

Try doing an ecu check http://www.ttzd.com/diagnostic.html

This may point you in the right direction as to the problem.

should take no more than about 15mins, the hardest bit is

getting the 4 bolts out of the footwell. ;)

 

PS: Don't forget to reset the ecu when you've finished..

so you go back to the company who fitted them!

 

sounds like safety boost get it on a consult see if it comes up with code 34 or other fault

 

or the actuator plugs have not been reconected properly or at all

Thanks to everyone. Bloody quick responses to a no nothing question. It all helps and I've passed the gen on to my son.

 

Not possible to take it back to place that fitted the recon turbos - or more accurately not worth it. Waste of time and space. Seem to be a cowboy outfit.
