Please tell me anywhere that it probably stores temporary/deletable files!

 

Got a 6Gbyte disk on C: drive and not that much software but it's constantly telling me that I'm out of space.

 

Oh and can you delete XP patches in add/remove programs? Even though they've been downloaded and installed if you try removing them it throws a wobbly.

temp files are usually stored in Docs and settings/name/local settings/temp

Assume it's already run Disk Cleanup? If not go to start, run, cleanmgr.exe

dont remove patches from add\remove as this uninstalls them...

 

go to Docs and settings/name/local settings/temp and delete everyting in there

Make sure you do not have hibernation installed..will be a sizeable file in root of C: called hiberfil.? or something very close..

 

clear out all your old porn from Docs and settings/name/local settings/temp internet files...

 

check size of your local profile...some people have large profiles filled with pics etc..

then if all else fails, get a larger drive as 6GB is pants...

Cheers for the advice guys but turned out to be a nasty virus!

 

IRC back door summat or other, created a /Documents/Tim/Complete directory which is full of thousands of files with video.exe on the end, oh and it's disabled my cmd so I can't run a command prompt. If I look for the directory in Windows Explorer it can't see it so I'm now reliant on AVG to get shot of the whole lot. NIGHTMARE!!! :(

Make sure you have variables set like this...

 

Right click MY Comp, select properties..Advanced, environ variables...

 

Should get CMD.exe back...
