I bet you play all that cheesy crap though Kev!! hehe ;)

I went to a club a few weeks back. The local crap hole, was bored and had a few of the lads round. Went in and they were playing some decent stuff in there, Mylo, DJ Marky etc. As soon as it hit midnight, the crap came on. Infact I think one of them was from Take This, or even Pondlife. Anyway, he started playing absolute drivel....as they all seem to do around this time.

I was reasonably merry and thought I'd go and have a word and let my feelings be known. Of course everyone's still dancing around as they are drunk and would more than likely dance to 'Oh come all ye faithful' if it were playing.

So I went up to this DJ and said "what the hell have you go playing then?" To which he said "ya what?!" To which I said "Good God, this music, it's bloody dreadful, you were playing some really cool stuff in here when I came in and now you're playing absolute 5hite". To which he said "yeah but they're all dancing", I said "yeah of course they are, there's nothing else to listen to and they are all pissed right up, probably so they don't have to put up with this", I then said, "would you seriously listen to this if you were in your car?" He looked a little dumbfounded. No answer from him, so I left him to it.

About 15 mins later, the decent 'club' type music came back on. A result!! Anyway. at that point my mind set changed and found myself wanting to stay in there.

I've experienced this a number of times. Gone into a club, they play the good stuff up until 12 and it's a decent atmosphere. But then the music starts going down hill, I've never understood why that is. Why do DJs think it's good to start playing utter crap after about midnight. Not talking about you Kev, but I'm sure you know exactly what I mean.

Clubs that tend to get good reputations are the ones that play good music. The reason the local crap hole is so poor is due to the music. But it's a captive audience I guess. There's nothing else for about 15 miles, so you're stuck really.

unfortunatly si it's down to the clubs mucic policy these days, dance music has taken a hit generally over the last few years and larger club chains like luminare leisure etc have adopted the music policy of dance stuff early on then cheese from arond half 11-midnight not only because it attracts punters in a party mood but bar takings are higher when the cheese is on because not everyone likes every cheese tune, but saying that the place i work 2 weekly sats is the same dance from 9 to 10.15 cheesy chart and rnb till 11 then oldies till 1 , i tend to play the more popular stuff and yes i do play rick astley lol

I dunno, I think that is a biased view from the clubs. Everyone I know and people I don't, moan about the cheese when it comes on wondering why decent stuff isn't played all through the night.

Only girls on hen nights tend to like cheese and everyone likes a good dance atmosphere, something that cheese doesn't offer.

tbh it depends on the club if you have students,it's cheese and rnb dance does not work, same if it's older people but i find the 25-35 age group are more into dance stuff so it reallt does depend on the crowd when i used to work sat nights at time in weston 3 years ago we did dance till mid nights, rnb at 12, 90's dance anthems at 12.30,let dj mastercrash have a go at 1 then back to upfront from 1.30 to 2.30 but when myself and my mate left they changed the music policy went down the cheese road, and sold the club a year later

fooker at least it's not your fav 40's music :x:

Yeah, gotta say the whole cheese thing is probably the major reason I'm not too bothered about going clubbing any more (well, that and RnB, which would be OK if it weren't so samey -- how old do I sound?).

I'm sorry, but I can't stand Wham et al: it was crap in 1983 and it's even more crap now. Please stop!!!!!! The only reason people thought it was any good is because virtually everything else that came out in 1983 was even more crap... It's crap, accept it and move on, find some new (or at least some other) music to listen to... please. Popular music has been knocking around for decades, and arguably a lot longer... so why the hell do people insist on listening to the same rubbish for 22 years!!!! Do you still moon around over your childhoold sweetheart from 1983 (let's conveniently ignore the 0.1% of people who buck the trend and marry their childhood sweethears)?!?? Do you still wear the same clothes?? Do you still have the same haircut?!???? No, of course not. So why not realise that actually George Michael wasn't that great either!! Get over it already!!! (Please.)

And if I hear Gold one more time (and I used to like that tune), or Saturday Night, or *anything* by Madness, or Abba (and wedding DJs are *particularly* guilty of the latter)... well look, you get the picture.

...

Not that it winds me up or anything. ;)

i'm a wedding dj also what people have to realise is it's not a easy job when your dealing with grany and grampa they dont want to listen to new stuff, they love dancing queen, staying alive, hot chocolate, and the nolans,i mean i'vr just got back from a gig and what was my biggest tune of the night?wham i'm your man on level par with time of my life, sorry but i dont care what people think the dj plays to the majority not the minority and in my book a dj that can read a audience cant go wrong
