Brought my zed home tonight, the first time ive driven it since JAE, and a strange warning light kept coming up on the dash, it didnt seem to follow any pattern and i didnt take the car over 65ish at any time, Ive never seen this warning light before and wondered what it was, when i got home i checked the manual and the light isnt shown in there, Id apreciate any help i can get in finding out what this is. However i cant post a picture of it so ill try and describe it............

Warnig light is red, it appears in the light cluster next to the 'handbrake on' light on the left hand side of the dash (light is to the right of handbrake light)

It looks like a drawing of a silencer with 4 heat type lines rising from the top of the silencer (like the symbol you would find on a microwave to signify a heat setting.

Although i drove her for about 25 miles there was no difference in performance at any time and all gauges read like they should

Its realy bugging me so any help would realy be appreciated

IMHO, if you still have Cats fitted i think it is for them over heating mate, but not sure as i dont have them.

Cat overheat light. usually triggered by unburnt fuel traveling down to cats and lighting up in them, a misfire can cause this, also often the cables to the sensors can short out and activate the light, especially if the exhaust has been removed at some time and the cables cut instead of the sensors been undone, quick look underneath will confirm the braided cable condition.

Cheers Jeff

could be thats spot on, cars been stood for a while and i thought i detected a slightly lumpy engine as i got near home , could be a miss allowing fuel into the cats

Maybe the Heat lamp is considered to be an engineering rather than user light.

And therefore is not shown in the user manual.

Is the car a J spec ??

Cat overheat lights were only fitted to Jap spec zeds so not mentioned in the UK spec manual.
