18" wheels & SO2's !!!

I've got-um, But! im havin' a bit of a dilema,.

(funny bit) No-one in MK would fit them, not even get the wheels out of the boxes, "they said they can't trust the man on the machine, he might scuff them" - Ok thanks for being honnest i said.

Went to 'Prestiege' who customise & referb' alloys daily "no probs" - the bloke even cleaned down the machine & put boot covers on the tyre fitting machine smile.gif

All done & going home with tyres in the back of the van.

Removed std wheels cleaned arm & sus' parts & hubs, & fitted wheels !

Chuffed, then took it out frown.gif some arse had fitted the plastic inner atrches the wrong side of a clip! every corner - u can emagine the noise. - Cured that now smile.gif

But the rear 18x265x35's are an inch bigger than the stock 16x45's! Makes the car really arse high! this shouldn't be- see pic! Front is ok.

Can i fit lower springs on the rear only to bring the car ride hight down or do i have to do all four? And can i fit lower springs on the rear & keep the UK electronic damping as i've done the ctr console switch mod - instead of using h/brake.

Sorry about the pic, my camera looses picsels daily, frown.gif

Harve - didn't you already have 18" wheels?

You can get something like this, which gives the rear end the appearance of being lower.

now u see what i mean.

When i lowered my car recently harve with the blitz spring they lower the car at the back more than the front and it solves this very problem.

Harve if you did already have 18`s what have you done with them? Are the old ones for sale?

Harve, just put the same size wheels/tyres on mine & you're right mate, massive gaps in the rear arches, spoils the intended look a bit.

Got the back of mine stripped out ready to fit my -35mm springs cause it just looks shite, only prob is, with the 18's on the front I don't know if it'll drop by -35 all round, will they foul on the front arches with 40 profile tyres?

Anyone know if I have to be aware of anything with the HICAS when removing the rear shocks.

hope youve got locking nuts on em mate, i wouldnt like to see all the hard work go to some spotty theif. worth the wait wasn't they. LOL.....6 months in the planning.

Sorry i've had the rims since before the Dyno

day. Got tyres recently, As off saturday i was on std 16's.

Reading your replies with hence! what can i lower the max rear & max front to sit it composed again. - Tony' whats your rear front dimentions!

h mate i will take you to chassis dynamics. northampton. i think i could do with going another 20 mm lower on the back they will do you a set to drop the car exactly how far you want. and at no extra cost.

"T"......

Cheers Tony, a flagen of ale (of my choice)! I owe ya.

Errr cheers Harve (Re tech post) so this is what i have to look forward too!! Do you get the same problem with 17`s? I don`t really want to lower my car as it seems to catch on enough speed humps and driveways as it is,dont fancy fitting a new front bumper and have it looked knackered after a few miles! Any advice appreciated. Are you & Lack300 based round Northants somewhere?

Almost see profiles biggrin.gif

AAha was begining to think that the northants area was a no go for Zed owners Hehe. Do you ever have Drinking sessions OOPS i meant a meet up ( misses looking over shoulder)LOL, round here then? Apart from Billing of course.

AndyP,

Your rear bumper under valance, as in pic, - will it fit a uk bumper?, where from, & how many shillin's.

harve

JRTT,

More assistance days than meets, we all learn a little then listen to others, then listen to mistakes made worldwide! Then go to work on the cars. Compare results & make our own judgments & still get the wrong wire!!! But we don't own MG's so its a learning thang!

Harve,

That pic was from SE, but you can bet your life that Luke will also so them.

Harve - My car sits on 18's and has been lowered all round, looks great - HATES Isle of Wight Ferry Link-Spans frown.gif frown.gif

Grrr.

Oh and hates my drive, my garage, speed humps, hills and car parks.
