Stop wasting your money on HID lights and get those tappets sorted!! ;)

I'd like HIDs some day. :) Bet they look good.

Get some LED replacement side light bulbs too. Will give a really crisp appearance from the front end. :)

wondering how long it would take you to answer lol the engine runs but no good if u cant see where your going

Hi mate i agree standard lights on zed are very poor. this defo is my next mod where did you get kit from and which one (eg) 6000k etc. were did you fit the ballast box. Every one seems to have different prices does that mean compromise in quality. Which kit would you recommend im after a super white +blue tint apperance.

Spoke to chris few weeks ago might go for his kit. I was told to avoid kits made in china/taiwan as quality is really poor and ballast boxs dont last long is this true.

with mine i ordered 8.5k but they arrived with 6k stamped on the box so not sure,i mounted my balasts behind the headlight panel it was the only place i could find enough space,i have read on here about some taiwan kits not being any good, but you gotta face it most electronics are made over there these days some better than others though, and the taiwan kits use crap bulbs apparently that dont last very long,i'm not gonna post up where i got my kit from nad as it would not be fair to the traders on this site atb kev

hmmmm, thought these were really good at first but I still have to switch to main beam when no-ones in front of me

I got 6K ones - VERY white light ;) but still doesnt light up the road half as much as my main beam - perhaps I should see if they are adjusted upwards enough??

although i have to admit they look good, i personally cant see th point of spending £250 on headlights unless you live out in the country. almost all the city/town roads have street lighting now and if you ever find yourself where there isnt any, use the full beam, thats what its for. maybe im just too sensible :p

Jason,

You'll probably find that the inside of the headlights is filthy! To clean it up you'll need to take the whole light assembly apart and give it a good clean. I have a sneaky suspicion that perhaps as much as 50% of the light output is lost due to dirty headlamps (internally I mean). Firstly you'll get less light on the road and secondly there will be a lot of scatter which means the beam pattern isn't properly defined. At MOT time this is usually not picked up as they check it so close to the actual lights. Best way to see whether the lights need adjusting is by parking the car 5 metres from a wall and seeing where the light hits. At that distance the top of the main light pattern should be at the same height as the physical height of the headlights as mounted in the car. A bit difficult to explain but if you have a look at the online user manual (lighting section) you'll see what I mean.

Spot on there Danny, I have had mine apart and cleaned, insert chromed and HID kit fitted and they are the best set of lights I have seen on a car.

Thanks for the referal Si!

Yes, price does mostly reflect quality.

The kits I sell have been independently voted top in class (both for the ballasts and bulbs separately). The manufacturer is the main supplier of "factory fitted" HID kits for Merc, BMW, GM, etc. so quality is assured. They're available in 6000K, 8000K and 9000K (the former being pure white, the latter blue/purple).

These kits normally retail on my website at £285 + £10 p/p. As a subscribed member your price is £260 + £10 p/p. I installed a kit in my own ZX this past weekend and it took about 20 minutes per side - no modifications required, completely plug-n-play!

These items are custom ordered so please expect a delivery time of around 10 working days from the date that your funds have cleared our accounts. Spare bulbs are available separately (roughly £50 each).

Give me a shout if you're interested.

Regards,

Dan
