bought a car alarm yesterday and I want to do decent and tidy job of installing it - so to anyone who has done this kind of thing - which is the best wire to use for the power drain detection and which is the best wire for the permanent 12+ volt connection? Thanks, Bilky

Is it a "Thatcham approved" alarm? If so, and you want your insurance company to accept it, you have to get it installed by an approved dealer.

If not, sorry, I don't know the answer!

Agree with DaveM,

Give Bob a phone (his number is in the contacts sect) he aint far aways from ya and im sure he will do you a good price on it. May as well get that insurance discount, will probably compensate from any fitting charges.

No, its not Thatcham approved coz only the immobiliser needs to be so the alarm is just a noise making extra. Question still stands on which wires to use!!

wouldn't the "power drain detection" and a "permanent +12V" feed be the same thing ?

If you are on a permanent live, and the battery is disconnected....

But, i would say anywhere around the radio for those wires

Craig.
