Going to see a 300 TT on Thursday. When I spoke to the seller last night he said that it was in the grage at the moment becuae the Aircon drive belt had snapped. Could this be a sign of how well the car has been looked after? Does the 300Z have a separate belt for the Aircon or is it the same belt as the alternator power steering pump etc....

Should the fact that has been left so long it has failed concern me?

Thanks

went to look at a car myself mate,a uk spec with full history but when i got there and looked at the engine bay and components i noticed the belt had also snapped, seller told me the aircon unit(compressor) had jammed forcing the belt to fray and snap, needed a new belt and unit to put right which was already there but in the end decided not to buy for other reasons with the car too,but it may not always be a case of neglect?

The aircon belt is a seperate belt as is the power steering and alternator,3 ancilliary belts and a timing belt all in.

Air conditioning units should be regularly serviced but personally if it was me i would still go and look at the car, test drive, check for leaks etc, you'll soon know if its a good or bad example, this forum and its members are good for advice and there is also a link i looked at when buying mine telling you what to look for when buying but having problems finding it??Still getting used to finding things on the forum :)

Hope this has helped any and good luck with the car

Cheers..Ron

Thanks Ron, I will go and look at it. Appart from anything else i've never even sat in one before and seeing as how it's so close, 2miles away, it would be daft not too. At the very least I will find out if a 300 is for me.

Take it for a drive and feel the power when you put your foot down but don't be sucked into buying it if it doen't feel right. They can be expensive to fix..

If it feels right, it's gotta be right...

That is a definite, first time i sat in one i thought...I WANT ONE!But as Angusglover said, dont jump the gun and get the first one if i doesn't feel right, they can be expensive to fix TT or N/A if not looked after properly,i test drove loads before getting mine and eventually got mine (1 year later) in Kidderminster and i stay in Scotland but worth the drive down.

Hope you get a nice example Zed :)

Going to look at it this afternoon hopefully, so I'll let you know how I get on.

89k uk car with a FSH and thousands of pounds worth of recipets apparently. Descibed as immaculate, although I've heard that line before. The only downer is it has 18" chrome alloys which if I buy it will be comming straight off. It's advertised for £4k

89,000,Uk car, full history with receipts then def worth a look at the least.

Yip,let us know how you get on today with the car
