Green Stuff pads fitted today

following a cancellation by a customer found I had and afternoon to myself so fitted my new Green Stuff pads, and changed the brake fluid. Got to say that despite the pads not bedded in yet the feel is much better maybe a result of the fluid change? that itself was a surprise, the master cylinder fluid looked ok but the crap dark brown fluid that came out of the the calipers was disgusting.

Will evaluate and post an update, I might add the disc`s are quite new so bedding in should be fairly quick. Jeff TT

Looking good!

I today had a bit of an event after having to brake quite hard. One of my discs decided to give out some kind of high pitch mating call for the next half mile, which eventually stopped after hitting a lowered grid.

Looks like I'm in need of a bit of a brake service.

Sounds like you're down to the springy metal wear indicators that some pads have.

Get the brembos then youll notice a huge difference biggrin.gif wink.gif

The greenstuff are good and the redstuff a little better, i have had both on my car and did trackday with both, redstuff definatly holding out more to the heat and fade, at silverstone after 4 laps the greenstuff went all funny.

At kemble after 15 laps on two sessions the redstuff was giving the same, very consistent.

And on the road there is no real difference, ie on warm up ect.

What do these green red pads cost? First my local dealer said green over £100 a set, then comes back saying cant get them.

Obviously you can. but looks like I'm putting in Mintex this time

According to my supplier, EBC the manufactures of Greenstuff actually put pressure on the retailers to keep the prices high I was once quoted £110 for a set at Billingham and that was supossed to be discounted!! Surfice to say my supplier is not following the trend I paid £58 inc the vat. He can supply them for £42+vat for 10 sets or more, however there is no listing for rear pads unless anyone knows different.

Oh and I used Mintex on my Cossy and was well impressed.

Jeff, top price mate, who sells em for that to the joe public ??

Red stuffs are about 20squids more and for the rears they do the standard Blacksuff.

EBC's Greenstuff are the donkey's swingers. They have good stopping power and really do keep brakedust to a minimum so your alloys stay looking sweet for a lot longer.

Smithy would you believe the guy selling the pads runs a little motor discount shop in my local town (Tamworth)It is clear to me he is just not been greedy like a lot of the "specialists" can tend to be.

That's good going though, cos the price is just over 30% under retail, unless he sells shit loads of em, he's selling them for a few pennies less than what they cost him, should have done a group buy on these before fella, well done for finding him, smithy cool.gif

im thinking about getting some green pads and awaiting your post

could you give me a number of the guy you used and i will give him a call

cheers jeff

Hi ya bedding in going ok,feel and response is a definate improvement (after 100 miles)

also no warm up time needed on the button from the word go, very pleased at the moment.one thing though I did change the brake fluid at the same time which has probably helped the pedal feel also.
