Just sat down working out how much my car is worth in bits as i am thinking about possibly breaking it and worked out i should get around 3 grand just for the following bits.

Stainless Steel Hardpipes (6 months old)

Blitz Turbo Timer

2 x Manual Radiators

Rear OE Syle Fiberglass Spoiler

HiCas Eliminator Bar (Brand New)

Blitz Induction Kit (A Year Old)

Bailey Motorsport Dump Valves (Six Months Old)

Blitz DSBC Boost Controller

SE Nistec Fast Road Autobox

Mike Feeney Decat Pipes (Year Old)

Mongoose Stainless Steel Exhaust (1 yar old)

Wings West Polyeurethane Front Bumper (Not even painted yet)

Fully Black Leather interior with No rips or holes in the leather

Volks Racing 17 Inch 5 Spoke Allow Wheels

Mocal Oil Cooler (1 Year old)

MAF, TPS, PTU, CAS, Fuel Pump, Lights.

I worked out thats 3 grands worth of stuff even before body panels, engine, turbo's running gear etc.

Seems it makes more sense to break these car.

There out again!! :headvswal :x:

Sad, but yeah you are right. Most 300s are probably worth more broken up but to be honest you have to see what I saw tonight! Old Top Gear on Living or whatever on Sky. 300zx twin tub vs. 350Z...guess what?

350Z got it's nice new Renault ass spanked! 'ave it!!! :D ;) Yeah 3K standard vs. nearly 30K and it got it's Audi TT lookalike @rse wacked with a canoe paddle fit for Burt Reynolds trying to paddle his way out of chocolate starfish creek from Deliverance after seeing his best mate squeal like a kermit! ROFLMFAO :D Was that a bit over the top? Nah!

how come you are thinking of getting rid bud?????

Because it just costs to much to run, ive had it just over a year and its cost me about 4 grand in repairs, its still needs 500 to a grands worth of work on it and im fed up of spending. I rarely drive it anymore and if you take into the amount i paid for the car its would have been better to spend it on my kids and family. Ive tried to sell it on ebay but highest it went to was 2,400 and that just takin the piss.

unfortunatly i bought one of the roughest zeds ever, its far better now than what it was but it wont be sold for next to nothing. i want to recoup at least 3 and a half grand on her so it may have to be broken.

Sorry to hear youre sellin up mate. :(

first dibs on the engine :nelson:

Yeah sorry to hear this mate...

I've gone through my finances this morning and its depresing to see how sh1t a state I am in at the moment.

I'm playing catch up for the next few months and then its xmas, so no money for the zed till new year at least.... :( and I need a new bed!!! ;)

Tis a bitch to run at times, I have contemplated selling loads of times but now its off the road till next year its not costing me a penny and I've come along too far now to give up when I am so close to having the project finished......

If you think the cars worth it, go through your finances AGAIN and see if you can afford to keep her..... ;)

this is scarin me, are 300s really expensive to keep and run? are they unreliable or is it just a case of making sure you get a good one to start off with?

marcuss mate you will miss the car and to be honest where you gonna break it and how long do you think it will take to actually sell the parts. zeds are expensive mate but they make you feel good about your self and feel you with pride as you cruise down the road. and to be honest i looked over your car when it was here and it,s not that bad so come on mate chin up eh. plus we are mates so you get discounts on you repairs now anyway LOL paul @southwestzx@yahoo.co.uk :mac1:

Sad thats it's a RHD, otherwise you would have a possible buyer right here..

Getting a good one to start off with is the best way, but luck has to be shining on you too. Some people have no problems and some have had lots. I think people spend so much time when buying a zed checking it dont smoke on idle as everybody goes on about Turbo's (which might only be PCV's) when Suspension parts, exhaust replacement, tyres can cost you just as much to replace than a set of turbo's. Just think your looking at £400 for a set of tyres.

Or you can do the other thing

Dont go through your finances..after all the result will only be that you do not have enough cash to run the car.....but maybe you could afford to run a deisel Fiesta.

If its your passion stick with it you only live once

What would you like on your headstone

Sensible lad

died with his money in order

paid for his own funeral

and left loadsa cash for someone else to spend

OR

Lived in the fast lane

Died with a smile on his face

Dont mean to be morbid just a light hearted way of saying it.

You need to bare in mind you are buying a performance car that could be 15 years old, yes there are some out there that are no more than good looking old dogs, there are also some real bargains, as always the best advice is to buy off here and if you can see if you can get another member of the forum to come with you to check the car over. If you love the car and get the right one you will not be disappointed. ;)

  IMO this is the best advice so far, you have already spent out, stick with it and have some fun out of the money you have already spent.

I've gone through this, having spent far too much on mine (circa 25K ish + purchase price in 99) and having spent most of that over an 18 month period and never had a reliable car since. I've decided to return it to closer to standard and Flog it in the spring.

Been and checked out a Noble last week and made my mind up. Will be driving a Noble by next summer as they have come down to my price range now. Noble GTO3R on a 02 plate 11K miles £24K with a tried tested 2.6 TT coswerth engine, 4 big bolts and the whole rear body work is off so you can get to any part of the engine in situe.

So it's been a love affair thats coming to an end unless I can afford to keep the z as an everyday mota.

this is scarin me, are 300s really expensive to keep and run? are they unreliable or is it just a case of making sure you get a good one to start off with?

No mate all performance cars cost a bomb to run even if nothing major goes wrong with them.

My MR-2 has not missed a beat and has been cained up and down the motorway, but when the drivers side window packed up it was a nice 300 squid bill at Toyota for a new regulator and window motor!

I've had loads of cars and 4wd motors over the years and TBH there isn't anything I can say about expense that says "Yeah that was a cheap car to run!" LOL :D

First Rover 820Si I have as a company mule was fantastic. just put petrol in it and serviced it and not 1 thing went wrong with it in 134,000 mile over 3 years. So I bought another 1 with the kidney grill just after Honda sold their share. Although engine and gearbox never let me down the electrics were a nightmare and was one problem after an other. So you can get cheep cars to run, but generally not performance.

Yeah you're right about the Rover 820Si mate, I bought one of them on finance in '97 so at the time on a K plate it was quiet new. Nice motor but the electrics were cack on mine aswell. ;)

sorry to hear this but if you do decide to sell i may be interested in the bumper pm me with a price if you like

true i have a £250 Vauxhall Carlton Diplomat 2.0 which i bought so i didnt have to use my zed as a daily driver, pretty much any work that needs doing to it I can do myself.

Sorry to hear this mate - without trying to sound like a vulture I am also interested in the front bumper should the worse case scenario happen.

Hope you can get to keep her tho..........................

There out again!! :headvswal :x:

That's the topic though!

Oh and it's They're not there. There out again makes no sense. :headvswal :x: ;)
