I got my reg papers for my Z and they DVLA spelt my name wrong..I just got a ticket in the mail for being 10 miles over a 50 zone and its made out to the wrong name..they are asking for my uk licence which I dont have as I drive on a international permit and if I know of any information ' that can lead to the identification of the driver '.They dont have my birth date or passport number or drivers permit number ..all they have is my address where I live and a car registered in a mispelt name..can I legally get out of this or will I have to fess up? anyone had a similar experience here in the UK?

International permit? I'm pretty sure they can't endorse international or foreign driving licences.

How long have you been in the UK?

If its more than 6 months you will need a UK License, thats the law.

 

Normaly when there are typoes people tend to get off on far more serious charges so I cant see why it wouldnt apply here

I have been here about 5 months off and on from australia...I know i have done wrong and its no problem to pay..im just curious because in oz you dont have to pay if they make a mistake..i had better look into getting my uk license then..thanks for that..btw they cant take my z away can they? clamp it?

i had a spellin mistake on mine mate, asked my uncle who's a copper but no luck so had to pay the £60 and a 3 points! :(
