O.K. This is what I've done :- Replaced timing belt and all auxilliary belts.

Timing belt fitted fine, all timing marks aligned, Cam sensor replaced on original position, but engine will not fire, where have I gone wrong ?

E.C.U. reset and Diagnostic check carried out, 5 long,5 short flashes, indicates no problen with that.

What else can I check/adjust ?

have you checked all the CAS and PTU connectors?

apart from that there should be no other reason for it not to start

have you checked for a spark?

Not checked for spark as yet, what are CAS and PTU ?

Would they be cam sensor and the black box fitted on the l.h.side cam cover ? if so yes all connections checked

CAS (cam angle sensor) is what youve called Cam sensor

PTU is the finned box a bit bigger than a fag packet on the opposite cam belt cover

give the connectors a good wiggle and try it again

Does the PTU have to mounted vertically or will it be O.K. horizontal, not fitted to cam cover at the mo. checking cam positions.

dosent matter what way the ptu is mounted bud . sounds like this could well be the fault though.

have u checked for a spark? will only take 2 mins

PTU doesnt matter about orientation as long as its plugged in and has good connections. the casing might have to be earthed though, but im not sure

Thanks for the tips. When it stops raining I'll get around to checking connections and whether it is sparking. Cheers guys.

Put the ptu back in its proper place and try it mate. PTU doesnt need earthing but the wiring could be a bit dodgy.
