Had the dash speedo-tacho cluster out today - swapping an mph chip.

noticed the two wee bulbs at the lower edge of the clocks - face forward onto clocks.

First - anybody know why they are there, cos they only seem to light the black shroud around the clocks, the dash is backlit.

2nd- anybody sprayed this surround to make the most of this ambient light?

Thinking glitterflake, pearl, luminous finishes.

The bulbs behind the clocks iluminate the needles and the boost and iol pressure guages , you should have seen a clear plastic moulding behind both main clocks, this refracts (ooh big word  ) the light to the needles and smaller guages HTH :D

I think you are talking about bulbs BEHIND clocks.

I am asking about bulbs in front of the clocks - ie - they are closer to the driver than the needles, if you see what I mean.

They face forward - facing front of car and illuminate the front of the clocks. Bur what's the point if the clocks are back-lit, like you described
