ok so i've had my 91 import auto fairlady for 3 weeks now and even though shes a non turbo shes a beast, but i have a question for you all? whilst i was prepairing the car for the bodyshop ( the previous owner only ever drove the car once since he had it imported and managed to cerb the front smashing the whole front valance! idiot) i found a switch on the panel under the steering wheel, i've check all over the car and it doesn't seem to do anything the switch's led illuminates so it certainly has power but i can't for the life of me work out what it does!!!!!! it has no effect on the driving nor does it work any of the lights as far as i can tell! i have no manuals etc and it looks factory fitted and isn't part of the my imobaliser or alarm so does anyone know what it's for...... cheers

rear fog light, parking aerial or any number of weird and wonderful extras they fit in Japan that get taken off once over here due to the fact they are naff, I even had to remove a switch and wiring to additional boot lighting when I got mine.

Yeah, I'd have gone for the parking ariel as well.

ok so i know its not the fog light and the aerial goes up and down via a signal cable from the sterio, i just can't trace it. and as far as star wars goes you'll laugh but i was bored for my 29 birthday so phone deed pole and had my name changed to darth vader, so i'm now legally darth vader, i'm not taking the p**s either, the wife thinks i'm nuts but then again she's not a fan of my Z either so what does she know! cheers ken2 i'll mail you a pic asap. keep thinking on this switch thing though guys as i know it's gonna keep me up all night now....

parking aerial is a small aerial on the front bumper to aide parking, the aerial may have been removed and the switch left in, its very popular on Japanese imports.

That's NOT what we meant......... In Japan they, sometimes, have a little ariel fitted to the near side edge of the front bumper, so that they can see where they are parking. You see that the parking is at a premium over there, and they arn't, always, the talest people around. So they press a button, and this little ariel pops up, just like your stereo one. But not all Jap imports have them, and most are either damaged, or removed by the time a UK owner has the car.

if only the kid who had it before me had had one of those then maybe he wouldn't have knackered the massive body kit it has, plus being 2 inches of the floor doesn't help with parking at the best of time's, as a side note does anyone know if the boxhill to brighton run is this sunday 23rd or next week on the 30th?
