Guest John Helps Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 How may of you have fiited HID lights 1. With the wiring conversion that alters the on off sequence. Mainly affects when you flash someone 2. Straight HID install leaving the switching as it was. Cheers Quote
Daves_Zed Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 Mines straight out of the box, but I intend to alter the wiring to help extend the life of the bulbs. Quote
SuffolkZX Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 Mine is straight out of the box as well, to be honest I dont feel the need to use the main beam anymore as the dipped is brilliant. Quote

Arrrrr, but what happends when some koont comes the other way with his full beam on?? You've got to the gentlemenly thing, and FULL BEAM him :D Which then switches over your lights ;) This way they get ALL the lights on at them :D  Quote

SuffolkZX Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 Yeah I know, may change the switching over when I get a weekend free, then going to fit HID to the main beam as well to make up for all the people that got away with leaving their main beams on and trying to blind me. :D :D Quote
Guest John Helps Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 Looks like the switching conversion is not so popular Anyone else done it Might have ago Ill let youll know how I get on Quote
mickl Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 what does this switching conversion mean? Quote
SuffolkZX Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 When you go from dipped to main the dipped goes out, if you change the switching then you can get it so they are both on when your on main beam, the reason for that is a HID bulbs life is shortened by turning on off . Quote
W1NG Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 Looks like the switching conversion is not so popular Anyone else done it Might have ago Ill let youll know how I get on I was going to do that with what was already suggested which was to ground pins 4/5? Only they seem to have some sort of power running through them and the last time I tried it my battery went dead completely. ¬¬!!! How ever, seeing as no one has found this... I think here's a nice doc which apparently is the 'right way of doing it'. Seeing as I can't upload the thing cause it's too big I'm hosting it myself. It's not always gonna be there so get it while you can... or try find it yourself as it took me fackin ages to find...! >>> CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD Quote
Daves_Zed Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 WTG W1NG!! Yay, someone has translated the Japanese :D Yep 'Thats' the proper mod. Unless your a registered member on the Jap site, you can't get to see the whole document, and has anyone tried to be registered? I did, and it doesn't work  I don't know why, I tried about 6 times from different PC's and got the same thing everytime. So anyway I'm glad you've found that  Quote

mickl Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 by how much would the bulb's life be shortened without the switching mod? Quote
Guest John Helps Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 Yeah as you say Dave thats the one I picked that up from the AUS300zx link no problem It is simple electronics one relay one zener Also the HID system will draw less current than the std bulb so it shouldnt be a problem to run main beam + dip. HID only draws higher current when switching on so this mod is really helpful. Anyway you wouldnt have it on for any length of time as you say Dave.... its mainly to blast people who are complaining and flashing you. :D WTG W1NG!! Yay, someone has translated the Japanese :D Yep 'Thats' the proper mod.
