Alan......

500bhp tesco trolly

Surely for that to work you would need oxygen being pumped into the pipes and the gas igniting inside the pipes, causing the air to expand and be forced out the back? Surely just the pressure of gas wouldn't push the trolley forward, as it would be the same whether it was ignited or not?! Someone who knows their physics and newton's 1st better than me will probabky tell me I'm talking codshit !

Just what I was foing to post.

As above??

Is that Onslow from Keeping up Appearances in you avitar mate?

ok in answer to the question about gas pressure it is a pulse jet and when you start it (by forcing air through it) when the gas ignites it pulls more air in behind it therefore giving a constant supply of moving air through the tube and subsequently it give thrust and finally forward movement

ps i also have the plans somewhere for building pulse jets (kindly supplied by another member)

LMAO big time.

ps i also have the plans somewhere for building pulse jets (kindly supplied by another member)

Would it be possible to forward these to me, as I love building projects like these?! I can see how it works now, sucks air in, creating a defecit (vacuum) in front of the intake, and causes the pipe to be 'sucked' into the defecit as the surrounding air cannot fill the space quick enough at atmospheric pressure? Added of course to the hot air coming out the back, working much in the same was as a jet turbine or water jet? I do have an A level in physics, but no so hot on it any more.

I did once build a "rocket thruster" which kinda worked but then nearly blew my head off so I haven't touched it again since as I dont think my welding/building skills are up to scratch to safely do this! Must admit though, the chasis with the combustion chamber and gas can did f00k off at tremendeous speed when I opened the valve up fully! Fortunately it blew up about 100 yards away from me (on a private disused runway I happen to have access too.....called Heathrow, some of you might know it?
