I had an idea and thought I would share it with you. If a number of us were to all buy the same online racing simulator game and each week have an online knockout competetion organised through the club. How much fun would that be. We could pay to enter a small fee and a percentage could go towards a prize the rest into club funds? I havent thought it right through but what do you think anything to add?

I think that it sounds like a quite nice idea :) But the prices of the PC games now days would make it quite expensive by the time, here you pay almost 60€ for a new game. :(

What I was thinking is that it dont have to be the lastest game out but an older one to keep the price down? If everyone who wanted to play was to say then maybe just maybe we could get a group buy sorted out for the software.

GTR or GPL - best racing sims available!

GTR is due out on budget soon and GPL is a fiver!

Or all chip in for the game, and then someone make copies for every one who contributed, there are cracks available for most games so that copies can be used for online gaming. Steering wheels......ebay! This isn't my suggestion, it is an unnamed third parties suggestion, as i do not condone illegal pirate software.....;)

It might have been my idea but I really would be grateful if someone was to take over with it and get something going i dont mind helping but i dont know too much about gameing and someone that does would be better suited. please.

I'm 100% up for it, as long as it's done in proper sim mode with no driving assists! :D

GTR uses an online key verification system, so if you haven't got one, you ain't playing online.

GPL doesn't use any anti-piracy protection, but with it being released back in 1998, it requires a fair amount of tweaking to get it to work online properly.

I know my way around online gaming, but have never used online racing games on the pc. One suggestion I have however played against my friends on XBOX on juiced, which is always an option.

I'd be more than happy to - I've run online racing leagues before and am about to start another GTR league with friends soon anyway.

Do you not use TC on the track then? But yes, turning ABS and automatic breaking and racing lines of, otherwise it's too easy.

The propper need for speed is the best pc racing game I have ever played, it has proper physics and you can tune the cars as you would in real life (e.g adjust suspension in kg/mm rather than "lowering - 10mm etc.) also if you take the car on the track you can set it to view only the chasis and wheels and it will tell you in real time the force on each wheel and in all various parts of the chasis in full 3D (i.e. in all directions) :D

Cool - thanks guys! :)

Ok, we'll need to know how many are up for it to begin with.

For the easiest start-up (in terms of plug n' play) as you say Vini, GTR is the best. It also happens to be the best sim too! ;)

Certainly won't be an overnight thing mate! It's a world away from the arcadey stuff like Need for Speed, Gran Turismo, Forza, PGR and the like so some practice time will be needed.

The more real the better! How about instead of chipping in for a weekly prize or whatever, how about everyone who raced, within a 25 mile radius of the winner has to come over on a saturday afternoon and give the winner's car a seriously hadcore polishing :D
