Guys, I recently imported a 90-91 Jap swb TT automatic. The car is mechanically sound but the rear window seems to have some sort of acetate or acrylic film or finish to the interior which makes it extremely difficult to see through even when the heated rear window demister has been activated. Have I got some one-off model or is this standared? Any ideas how I can improve things please........

Cheers

Tom

Had the same problem with mine. It's probably some kind of anti glare film thats started to breakdown and go cloudy.Try to peel a little bit off in the corner. If it starts to peel borrow the wifes hairdryer and heat it up and it should peel off without damaging the heater element.

Japtint.

Faded.

Heat it and peel.

Thinners removes glue.

I had that problem on my RX-7

tried EVERYTHING... in the end I used a couple of old bed sheets loads of masking tape to protect the car and NITROMORES paint stripper + you need 2 or 3 of those little plastic handles that hold a Stanley blade side on...ground the corners off. Finish off with white spirit then glass stripper.

the glass can take it dont get it on anything else and be prepared to put in some real elbow grease

use my method - i'm a window tinter

don't use paint stripper - it takes the protective paint off the heating elements.

Note John above suggestedthe HANDLE for a stanley scraper - do not use a blade as this willscratch the glass.

Peeling really slow while applying heat gets most of the tint off with the glue attached

did 3 windows inc rear screen last weekend on my jap import. Hairdryer is the way to go.

Good luck
