well a spell for a couple of months of spending nothing on cars has been ended by a trip to the race track and sitting inside a race prepped 300.

 

Last night trim was flying out faster from the rear hatch than Nissan probably put it together For those with loud exhausts that get bored on a Sunday afternoon do this then go for a drive. Top of 2nd gear is just plain nasty.

 

Going to the race track (one with corners in it not this limited skill straight line thingys) next weekend so am getting installed tomorrow:

Koni Rate Adjustables

King springs 30% stiffer, 30% lower non progressive

Pagid RS4-2 (or RS14B's haven't decided yet.. have got a box full to choose from) pads into the new GTR front brakes

Autometer Oil Temp / Boost Pressure gauges (no sense wasting f**kloads of money on Greddy stuff)

 

AND I'm sourcing a set of full 240/625/17 and 260/625/17 slicks for the race track. Yahhooo think of the cornering.

 

I promised I wouldn't spend money on the car this year. Har bloody har

Plan is I'm moving from our central city apartment/kingdom/palace to a "family" home closer to where I work and my mechanic, also having a garage I can get a beater and strip everything out of the 300.

 

The RKT - yer it's reasonably quick. Turbos are on their very last legs.. they've started the death whine so they're pretty much had it.

 

It's about as far as I can go engine wise without pulling the engine out, best gains though are to be had in suspension / braking.

 

Running GTR Calipers with Apex slotted rotors upfront, standard rears. Stillen adjustable sway bars. Our solid alloy subframe bushings (none of this pussy urethane shite). Going to remove hicas.

 

Half cage should go in in a month or so with race seat and harness.

 

Put it like this - you know that Holden HSV R8 Clubsport thing that was featured in EVO a while back ? (made in Aussie) well one of my mates at the uni gym told me how he'd taken one for a drive and "fuck it was fast .. I was doing fucken 180km's and I still had two gears left" yea yea turn it up

 

"so what are you doing in 15mins"

"well you know that little HSV, without trying I nailed one in town a little while back"

.... this guy got out of my car white and shaking about 30mins later.

 

Cresting a hill hard on the picks with Pagid pads (non of this wussy ebc stuff), after hitting 100 going up a hill he nearly kakked himself...

 

he just kept mumbling "fuck the braking..fuck it was fast..no fucking way.. thats just mental.. I've never been in anything like it.."

 

he got back to the gym and immediately started going on about how fast my car was and all the boyracer lads with their little gti-r's, 323's etc were going "nah , 300, piece of shit cars". I wasn't there but a 3rd party account is he had a huge verbal with these guys for like 15mins...

 

Looks like I need to convert a few more.

Man after me own heart! I spent about 15 minutes typeing up a reply to kszx's thread on the Skylark this morning about Bathurst race in Aus to find that The Terminator had asta-la-vista babied it before I could submit! LOL

 

Mate I'm working with at the moment is an Aus geezer and we've been on the Holden site quite alot. Fuck me! I'm off to Aus to get me one of them monster mothers!!!

 

Corvette 5.7 litre V8 motherfucker lump that kicks whimpish Jap and Euro and even Yank tank arse big time for how much? Not alot!

 

Yep granted they look like a jumped up Omega but man do they rock? Matt(me mate) was telling me the smallest engine they do is 3.8 I think!

 

But he was telling me about Godzillas a.k.a. Skylarks and what happened when they started running in the Bathurst mountain race...ROFL

 

Cained the Holdens outright for a few years until the Aussies changed the rules to NO 4 wheelers or summat and only V8's to get shot of the Skylarks. He said they just dominated the race and not only won but completely trounced the Holdens by massive margins.

 

So all those out there who think the Skylark is underated and arse just look at the racing pedigree second to none and then tell me they're wank!!! LOL

 

But back on the Holdens...I'd have one tomorrow, lot of car for not very much money!!!

hahaha senna they're one of the biggest jokes down here amongst the jap/euro boys.

 

They're basically a family car with a "250kw" V8 stuck in them.

 

Think like soggy handling, overweight, marginal build quality. Single cam pushrod engine.

 

I walked away from an auto 250kw R8 to 80kph .. I was just having problems with traction, once I hooked up i was gone. Bit of shame really.. $20k Z vs $80-100k HSV.

 

 

They are nice lookin motors but its a Holden ??????.

Thats almost the equivelent of owning a ford
