defiently won't be a strip car, but i want to weigh up my options of what engines will fit before i buy a new engine, its for a project :)

mini 1275 gt engine pretty nippy or go for the later 1.3i and turbo charge it wow lol

another option is the fiat uno 1.4 turbo engine i dont know if it would fit but they were good for 128 mph! just a thought

Turn it into a 6r4 :-)

Its not April 1st yet is it????

Anywooooo, you can put Honda V-Tech engines in Mini's, so cant see why not a Metro!!

not a joke, its not just about speed its about having a nicer engine for distance, with some thrashing, and a bit of power when needed, :)

This has gotta be a wind-up!!!

Not entirely sure of your motives or reasons for an engine swap on a Metro, but surely out of all the cars you could spend money and time on, why a metro ?

Once you've sorted out a decent engine....your still left with the rest of the car and all its many faults.

David (Metro Hater).

How about clairol hair dryer? That should double the power easily...pmsl

Sell the austin gat a rover metro, stick in a MGF VVC engine (145 bhp), or any other k series engine.

There is a Metro 1.3 turbo engine, which should just drop right in.

cool stu, how much are they roughly, this is a project for the car to last only 3000 miles, car needs to be more driveable but reliable, and its on a budget :)

Dont know. I remember seeing an engine about 10 years ago (When we did my sisters) a 1.3 turbo engine for £120.

It will be very drivable as it was designed that way, but I am sure you can pump up the turbo a bit :D

If what I have heard is correct they run on a T3 turbo.

A lot of the old MINI turbo cars use the metro 1.3 turbo engine.
