I'm looking at a few vehicles in Japan but not entirely sure of how to go about buying them.

Is it best to employ an agent to do the buying, if so where do you find a reliable one?

I have bought a few, its a pay your money and take your chance game unless you know who you are dealing with.

Some people will give you names of people they have delt with maybe.

Have a look and put their names up here for recomendations maybe?

You may find it really difficult in Japan without a contact and / or English speaker to get anyone to deal with you. ( no disrespect to you ) Its a cultural thing.

Im 20 years with a Japanese Firm / Imported three cars now and still would not go back to Japan without contacts setup.

Good luck Bud whatever you decide

You have to have an agent or you won't be able to de-register the car.

I've imported about 20 or so cars over the past few years as I know a man in Japan. What are you after?

Where are you looking at the cars? I assume on a Japanese web site?

Having purchased well over 100 cars from Japan, the best way to purchase is direct from the Japanese auctions. There are 90,000 vehicles auctioned each week that can be purchased. Therefore a vast choice for every make and model. What were you looking at?

I'm looking at Skyline GTR's & GTS-Ts. MR2 Turbos & 300ZXTT's however they have to be at least 15 years old so I can import them into Canada.

Found a couple of sites surfing the net.

http://auto-trade.adam.ne.jp/auto/

http://www.japaneseusedcar.ca/

If you have the site address for the main auction that would be much appreciated;)

Andy

those sites are awful.

You did on cars you have no idea on the condition.

Get an agent so you can get the cars inspected before buying them. Even cars with a good 'grade' can be dogs.
