I want to extend my wireless network, I have two D-Link access points, one Dl-624+ (54Mb) and one Dl-540 (11Mb), is there any way I could make the Dl-540 work as an "extender" without any wires between them? I have sent several e-mails to the D-Link support, but the still haven't replied even though it's several months since I sent them. I know there are specific devices for this, but if I could set up the 11Mb one to work as one I would save about 100€ :)

Run a hard cable from one to the other and then it will work, it's the only way matey. Or build one of those pringle tube aerials, do a google, apparently they work quite well!

Okay, thanks guys. The damn guy in the store told me it would work flawlessly, that I just have to e-mail the D-Link support for information :mad: Well, it isn't the whole world, could somone recommend a good "repeater" which will work without cables between them? :)

Yep, the Buffao one works well, but the protocols to do the bridge/repeater type thing between two devices is proprietary so they seldom interoperate.

 

So unless the DLINK one does it (I don't have one to check) then you are stuck. Point me to an online manual for your model and I'll take a look for you.
