Metalic Wurring/Whining noise

In need of your ideas on the above issue :confused:

 

The noise is louder when the engine is cold and seems to "rev" with the engine.

 

Anyone have a clue?

 

The idle is all over the place also, sometimes normal, sometimes hitting 2000rpm.....don't know if this is related?

    Could do with a bit more info bud, like is it from the engine, g/box, front, back etc!

    It's coming from the engine as far as I can hear. I did not have anyone around at the time to rev the engine so I could hear exactly where it was coming from though.
