is anyone elses tailgate as heavy as lead? it seems to need a lot of force to get it up like the hydraulics are worn. My misses can't even lift it!!, surly it should be easier.

Take out the weights, do a search

or if you have the crap old foam based spoiler on the back then its full of fkn water and weighing it down... take it off and it will fly up, you can get a fiberglass replacemnt that will go striaght on from luke at zcenter

what weights? - thinking of taking it off anyway

search is your friend, covered many many times ;)

search for what though, i've been searching for a half hour now, i always do a search first

nice one, thats what were here for to help each other out, thanks!

np ;)

The weight will make a difference, but its mostly the stock spoiler as Pk1 described. Once spoiler removed, the tailgate tries to smack you in the face everytime you open it.

Legrath, thats the effect i'm after, cause i have a poorly wrist which is not easily fixable. Can't put any pressure on it. Result of using a mouse for 9 years! i'm sure there's a claim there somewhere. I feel disabled, hopefully some physio will sort it.

you sure it was from using a mouse?

well i thought you were having a laff about the weights in the bootlid...........but i had a look, found it, removed it, and the boot opens nicely now! :)

Why did Nissan put the weight in the tailgate ????

Any ideas ?? Was it a weight distribution thing ..you know 54% Fr 46% Rr....

Cos the car is already front heavy..Im not suggesting that a Fookin great weight solves anything in a car, get it out thats what I say (its not April 1st is it)

????????????????

Nah, its for the rear wiper. (IIRC)

wipers or lead weights..damn...never call the missus that...................

why would a wiper need ballast?

the weight is on the opposite side of the wiper and its motor ;)

so it's a latitude weight balance thing ie left and right side is matched?

Just took my weight out .Is it to do with corner weighting. :duffer:

Takes a big breath !

Its so that should you pull off with the tailgate latch not fastened the tailagte wont rise automatically ( like me in the mornings.)

It balances the tailagate DOWN

But then why not just put slightly weaker struts in ???

Personally Im all for Spontaneous errection so Ive removed mine

Unwanted weight ..in my car..no sir..does not suite me sir !!

Unless of course anyone else has a better idea. :x:

perhaps we could gather them all together, melt them down, and get someone to make a trophy out out of them as a winners cup for best car at meets or something like that. he, he
