there are lots of superchargers out there but due to the fabrication involved I do not know of anyone that has actually achieved a conversion, I would jump at the oportunity to get rid of the tubs and put a big blower on but when you weigh up the costs and development work required it does not seem worth it :(

Yer...youre right there mate...the development work would normally be more expensive than the actual engine parts and supercharger itself :(

....but..

luckily I have an engineering mate who race tunes engines so he can do it all using a couple of spare engines but its probably going take at least a couple of years as its got to be fitted in around other work and i've still got to fund the importing of the engines and titanium...not to mention the final cost of setting it up :headvswal

Its a mission that may or maynot work to spec but were aiming for 10,000rpm and nearly as much Torque as BHP :wack:

(could do 12-13k rpm but that would reduce the operating life of components)

Will have to look at the pros & cons of boreing the block out and the actual mounting location of the charger :x:

Although I always wanted 18 or 20Gs I think the extra Torque provided by the supercharger would make it more usable

Not to mention the Noz ;)

ps...Havnt got the foggiest what were doin for the rear diff or gbox yet

Right...im off to search Google now for supercharged zeds.... :duffer:

If your looking for big all out power then turbo's will always be the way forward but if your looking for response and a real driver's car then it would have to be a supercharger or NA , bear in mind unless you have huge sums of money available to you (for the supercharger or NA) fitting large turbo's etc will always be the cheapest option

My dad has a 350z and a Stillen stage 1 supercharger kit to fit on it.

Apparently this supercharger is used on the kompressor mercades models.

If it does well for a 3.5L engine, it should work better on a 3.0L engine??

HTH mate.............

Rob.

or large sums of money into a car like macca and end up with a big powered driveable turbo car :D

if you want a supercharged zed why not get a v8 and supercharge that, i guess that would be easier and more reliable :)

big power yes but bare in mind the grunt of a supercharger or NA will start at 1k where as turbo's will always be lagging behind until 3k+rpm ............until they spool of course

hmmmmmmmmmm...

I dunno, I think people make too much about lag, macs doesnt seem to have lag, and he has massive turbos, but his entire engine is built around big turbos, dunno seems a lot of people these days want to whack big turbos on stock engines and expect f1 performance, duffer showed us the problem with that lol

got any more info on that Scotty

eaton blowers are used on the mercs but are the roots type and a bit large in size paxton

and pro chargers do centrifugal blowers which are smaller but the dont spin up to full boost straight away the boost goes up with revs but pro chargers have made a centrifugal blower with a gear system in to sort this out but this means it has to have its own oil supply and oil cooler tts deal with them think your talkin about £1500 for one though unless you can import one from the states or ebay maybe this is as cheap as it gets there is a company in newcastle that charge french crap but they do a good universal kit that could be made to fit will a bit of fettlin what kinda boost you after?

agreed mike

it really depends on what you want, if you want a car that will race in the twisties etc then you will opt for a particular set up, on the other hand if you want to break 200mph you would need another. having driven a few supercharged cars i would love given the time to develop a supercharged system for the zed, even better would be a supercharger with two tubs as the supercharger runs out of steam the turbo's take over

Lag lag lag always makes me laugh when people say Macs car has lag

I can make boost before I launch the car with the carbon clutch so if I can make boost before the wheels have even gone 2 feet then how can I have lag? The free flowing manifolds make a huge differance too.

It destroys zeds with stock turbos from off the lights ask PaulG and Topless if my car has lag as they have both driven it. Infact Mark said go for 20g next as he was shocked at how little lag there was LOL

I was driving a brand new 350Z today and that had more lag PMSL

We have been looking at the geared type of supercharger, the charger itself is not so much of a problem its all the fabrication that goes with it

Ermmm Mike said your car didn't have lag did not see anybody mention that it did Iain

Not on here today but I had to get it out in the open as the so called experts on this site said it had so I hear

No I think the words should be too much talk from people that dont know as much as they claim :)

All Fabrication can be sorted with the wonders of modern day cnc and a bit of overtime from my mate...lol...its just the time factor :(

try gmcmotorsport.co.uk they use ROTREX they have a lot of info on diy kits and sell a universal kit with bits that need modding to fit should be a doddle with access to cnc machines!

Steve i agree it would be nice to move away from the conventional and push the bounderies of what is really achievable
