hello! Ive been a fan of the 300zx scince they came out and now i cant resist i have to own one my trouble is which one i was lookin at the twin turbo but most are autos i would love a manual but i know they are rare as rockin horse crap!

I wolud be thankfull for any advice offered on mpg, insurance and performance times on both auto and manual.

Does the auto box kill all the fun?

Is it cheap to convert them?

I am 24 and have full no claims and been quoted around £950 (import was £1700)for both AUTO and MANUAL with ADRAIN FLUX does this sound ok?

Any help will be appriciated THANKS!

Welcome,

First Auto and Manual have so close the same performance its not worth worrying about. They can be converted but its not cheap. Around the £1000 mark I think.

MPG is a killer. Expect 16-18 around town and 25 on the motorway. You will never know what 16-18mpg REALLY means until you have a car which does that. It equals roughly a full £50 tank of fuel lasting just over 200 miles round town.

Other insurance companies to try are A-Plan, Insurance Factory and Firebond.

Im quite local if you need any help.

SOUNDS GOOD I HAD AN ASTRA GSI SUPERCHARGED WHICH WAS EARLY 20S ON MPG SO AM QUITE PREPARED FOR THAT SIDE ON THE COST IT WAS NIPPY BUT AINT IN THE SAME LEAGUE AS THE ZX THE ONLY OTHER THING BOTHERING ME IS THE AUTO BOX IM TOLD ITS MORE RELIABLE THE THE MANUAL BUT IVE NEVER DROVE AN AUTO IS IT JUST AS FUN? WHICH DO YOU DRIVE?

i usually put twenty quid in at a time and usually get between 40 and 50 miles before another twenty goes in

so next time your in your car put, every 40 miles pretend to put twenty quid in and then realise what sort of mpg we are getting

but once you are over the running costs (and it aint just petrol you have to worry about) these cars are fantastic

as for insurance im 26 and pay 600 and odd quid a year for a uk tt ive got 8 years ncb and a clean licencse so that doesnt sound too bad (im with budget BTW)

manuall is more reliable than auto from what ive heard, go to a few dealers and try and test drive an auto, just to get the feel of it then buy from someone on this site lol

mine is manual BTW and thats what i wanted from day one , just my opinion though
