i move my desktop icons to were i want (in a nice order) when i turn my computer back on there are all on the left side in any old order they wont stay were i put them any ideas? :headvswal

Right click on the desktop (away from any icons). In this menu, more than likely there will be "Auto Arrange" with a tick by it. Click on this, and then you're sorted. You want there to NOT be a tick by it mate

Is your PC shutting down OK?

The icon positions are only saved when it shuts down - if it crashes before this point then it's reset when you switch on.

Could also be a problem with your user profile...

try logging on as a different user...I take it you are using XP?

i'm using xp i move the icons and shut the system down it says its saving my settings when it comes back on there on the left side it also does this when i install any software.

try reinstalling graphics card driver ,, this happened to me in the past , evry time i installed a new program, icons all over the place, i did a update on graphics card driver and its bin fine scince... goto the scource , ie if its nvidia, go to there website , if its radeon go to theres , ,
