new diff,different top speed

Hi for thouse of you who dont know i have replaced my blown diff on my UK Twin Turbo auto for a Jap spec diff from a Twin turbo auto. And now after my first fast run the car nolonger accelorates straight to 140 easly(i know they are faster but i find 140 is the speed my car thundered to),anyway now the car with the new diff thunders to 125 so top speed should be an interesting comparason, thats a 15mph differance.

What would be good to know is has any one on the forum changed the standard Z combanation (ie changed the auto box for a manual with out changing the diff,or visa versa)and how did they find the performance in the upper regions of the Z.

Also how does a Jap spec car run in the upper regions with the topspeed limiter deactivated, now tell the truth guys!!

The next time you hear from me hopefully i will have the flatout speed to report, but at this moment in time i am quite dissapointed with the new performance, you see i had to put this diff in becourse no one had a UK diff for sale.See ya Chas

Jap spec car with auto box 17" wheels 150mph = 5000 revs, know it cause I have done it local by-pass which is 2.5 miles long.

My JSpec ZTT manaul is very strong upto 140mph at which point the limiter (which SE are SUPPOSED to have removed apparently) kicks in.

Not that ive ever gone that fast, officer.

Glen,

If yours is Jap spec then the limiter will be at 180Km/h, which will have been moved to 180mph as part of the speedo conversion.

If it is a UK spec then the limiter will be at 155mph. As I believe you have a JWT chip then there should be no speed limiter.

I noticed that non TT Zs in OZ had 4.083 ratio diffs. Maybe thats what you got? Surely Nissan would only do 2 ratios - one for TTs and one for NAs. Unless Jap TTS had the low ratio diff for more acceleration?? I understood auto and manual TTS to have the same 3.69 (I think) diff ratio. Euro TTS have the eleccy oil pump and diff oil cooler too.
