There is a man who is locked in a square 10’ x 10’ room.

The room has two doors one on each opposite facing wall.

At each door there is a guard. One of which must tell the truth the other must lie.

The man has no idea who is who truth teller or who is the liar.

He is instructed that one door leads to freedom and the other leads to eternal imprisonment. He is allowed only one question that he can ask.

He may ask this question to either guard but only one and only once.

From the clues you have can you workout what question he should ask and then from that answer what door should he take to freedom?

"Do you understand that if you don't show me the right door right now, I am going to rip off both your arms and bludgeon you to death with the soggy ends?"

Ask either of the guards what the other one would answer to the question "Which door is the one to freedom"

Then do the opposite ;)

Ask one guard what the other would advise him to do.

Assuming they understood the question the response would always be the door of eternal imprisonment

ask a guard how big the room is ,if only one can tell him the truth he will find out who's who.

Just spent 15 minutes explaining this to the mrs, you will get the same answer from both guards,so it doesn't matter which one you ask, so thats one question, and then do the opposite. Simple :D

I saw that film but didnt get it from there. I was asked it years ago and left to my own devices. I never found the solution but was told some time later what it was. JK77 and Pete got it right.
