Dials problem

bought a replacement dashboard from a member of group that Im having problem with.

when I got it speedo and rev counter were just sitting at max - even when plugged in.

looked at back and realised speedo was missing 2 of its 4 screws so used the screws from mine, - no change.

left it plugged in and drove home - after about 4 miles bothe rev counter and speedo dropped to normal positions.

Anyways. . . . .

Rev counter seems fine but speedo is reporting 60mph when GPS shows were doing 34mph and when Im actually doing 45mph speedo shows 105mph???

Also noticed steering is starting to go heavy intermittantly now I have this plugged in - its a uk spec dash. Does it sound like dash is knackered or have i missed something obvious.

I dont have a problem returning and Im sure the member doesnt realise there could be a problem, just waiting for him to come back on - but before its returned want to make sure I tried all avenues.

Cheers

Probably wrong but isnt the hicas and therefore power steering linked to the speedo in some way and thats why your steering is going heavy. Sounds like dodgy clocks to me but what do I know???

I thought the speed sensor fed the ECU which controlled power steering - Im not sure if it relies on a signal back from the clocks.

It relies on signal from back of clocks. They are all linked. If Speedo fails the rest will play up too.

The steering is probably going stiff on yours becuase it is speed sensitive and its stiffening up at the wrong speeds becuase the speedo is out.

Cheers, looks like the clocks'll be going back then :(

Just before I send these clocks back is there *anything* that could cause an over sensitive speedo? i.e. speedo reading over double actual speed?

Cheers
