could someone give me some advice please. I had a warning light on the dash that stayed for about 30 secs then went out again, it was the third one in from the left on the bottom left of the dial cluster and looks like a box with heat lines coming out of the top. Someone said they thought it was to do with the cat, HELP

cat over heat light can come on every now and again but can also indicate overfueling.

Typically means that there is an ignition failure and unburnt fuel is being chucked down the pipe which ignites in the cats. Check your coilpack connectors first.

I had this problem a while back, took me ages to finally find the actual problem. Everything checked out OK, new PTU made no difference, wiring OK, even chenged the coil pack plugs, and cleaned everything. In the end I stumbled upon it by accident........................

 

 

It was one of the coil packs itself, the rubber housing that fits over the spark plug was split, allowing it to earth under load!!

1 replacement pack later, and I'm running fine now :D

 

Worth a check.
