Did it on my car, it was dead easy. Deffo not a dash off job, the master cylinder unbolts fom the rear of the brake servo.

Hello mate, thanx for that. Can't get that article though, says page cannot be displayed.

When i look in my engine bay my clutch reservior is to the right of the brake servo. You see the problem i've got is that my clutch fluid is leaking into the drivers side footwell consequently my clutch won't engage properly cos theres no pressure :S i was told it was the master cylinder seals but i dunno where they are. Bit confused. If you have any advise pleae feel free to call me on 07732057628 cos i'm lost with this thing - give me an '82 trans am and i'm fine but this engine bay is like darth vaders bathroom!!

Thanx though

Rich

If its the clutch then for info, I just done on my NA manual

The Clutch master needs to be separated from the clutch pedal in the footwell. Remove the spring clip and pull out the pin which connects the two together. This is quite tricky and I had to do it by feel alone As i couldnt see that far up into the footwell. A pair of needle nose pliers or equivalent helped removing the spring clip. You should be able to do this without taking the dash out, although it is a little tricky.

Next job is to undo the pipe from the bottom of the cylinder in the engine bay and then finally remove the two nuts holding the cylinder to the bulkhead (dont lose the spacers).

It might make things easier to undo the clutch fluid resevoir if you can get to the nut on the spring clip and then remove the resevoir itself. This makes getting to the pipe and nuts easier.

With the cylinder off, You need to pull back the dust cover which is the rubber cover from the end of the cyliner then using a couple small screwdrivers, pull out the clip holding the main piston into the body. There is also a small screw on ther bottom of the cylinder to take out.

With both these gone, the spring inside should push the piston out. There are two rubber seals, the one at the front is the usual one to go but if you get a kit, you would probably want to replace them both.

Rebuild and refit is the opposite of the above.

Its not an easy job to do but doesnt take too long.

Oh thank you so much for that. At least i got that info now.

I've got the entire Nissan service manual but its so complex and doesn't really detail the ins and outs of removal.

Any idea where i can get the seal kit from as i'm gonna need it pretty smartish!!

Oh and would it aid things if i removed the drivers seat so i could lie facing up?!!

I appreciate the speed of your response.

Thanx Andy

Not sure about the seal kit. I had an old one lying around with good seals so just swapped them over. You could try the specialist 300 suppliers listed on the forum http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=42

It might help to remove to seat but just sliding it back as far as it will go will probably give you enough room.
