i know the lads at envy performance have a 900 bhp supra and that is on a standard box, so it sounds about right.

has anyone done this b4.

Wont a Skyline box go in easier? You often hear about Skylines being pushed to near on 1000BHP some even more?

Probably could be done but it would take a lot more work as they are 4wd;)

I have looked into it, and yes, you only need to modify the prop fittings and bell housing. But the bell housing is about half the gearbox, same problem with the R34 box. It will cost a small fortune to manufacture half the gearbox housing.

Attached 2 pictures, R34 box and 6 speed Supra box

i was told it was near exactly the same getrag 6 speed box just need to put the gears into the nissan housing and modify the prop fittings??

shame if it cant be done as it would have been a decent upgrade

I don't want to say that its not possible to make either the Supra or R34 box fit our Z's but it will be a hell of a job. I think we can use a 300ZX automatic bell housing but then we still have to make a very complicated adapter plate between the auto bell housing and the Getrag box.

I first have to see and disassemble the Getrag box befor I can say if all is possible.

How about a Holinger 6 speed sequential? You can get the bell housing adapters for the Z32 apparently...

Probably talking big wonga though....

We looked into that its going to cost around 5k,however I think the noise is really going to piss me off as I still want to use the car for the road,If the Supra box does not work out it will be our only choice.

the R32/R33 box have the same internals as the Zed box.

The weak spots are the high gear synchros...not the box itself.

There are upgraded synchros available from Nissan, but you'll need to rebuild the box.

Usually the high powered skylines use a dogbox ..who needs synchros anyway. :D

Iain, what gearbox do you have now ?

32010-40P00 (the original 5spd transmission in the Zed..the one with the weak synchros)

32010-45P00 (the one with updated/upgraded synchros/bearings/etc.)

32010-45P61 (the latest and greatest ? model that has even more updates and improvements.)

I've also read somewhere that the synchros from the Nissan Pathfinder fit the Z32 gearbox and are much stronger.

Ref Lymons post...

OS Giken gear sets are the same for the Z32/R32/R33 according to their website...maybe thats another option? Although they seem to be close ratio sets so maybe no good for top speed runs. RB Motorsports are the UK distributor.

Hi Eric,

I have no idea what model all I can tell you is it was a brand new TT box.

Speak to Peter Nendles he has just broken the latest box from Nissan so not really sure on how much stronger it is?

Hi Erik,

I have "the latest and the greatest" , I installed it the day before we went to Calais. Now, 2000 miles later, the box (sometimes) makes a crunching noise when shifting fom 4 to 5. So I have my doubts about the 32010-45P61.
