Has anyone done a write-up about this- I had a search but couldn't see one in the FAQ section. Is it something that is so easy it doesn't need instructions, or is it a pain?

If it’s just the antenna that is broken you can buy a replacement part. Far cheaper than replacing the whole electric aerial unit.

I did mine a while back, bought the antenna from courtesy in Texas and cost peanuts. I did this a couple years ago so a rough guide from memory. ;)

Very easy to replace. You first need to remove the surrounding interior in the boot. This is done by removing all the necessary screws. Then disconnect the power and aerial lead to the unit. These are in close proximity to the aerial body. Think you have to remove the exterior support, (at the top of the aerial inside the boot). There is a drain system designed to channel away any surplus water that is collected on the aerial, be careful removing this. Finally you can remove the securing screws which hold the unit in place.

If your just going to replace the antenna then the unit comes apart fairly easy, couple af nuts I think. Just have to ensure the new antenna is located correctly and the chord is coiled up before you re assemble it.

Hope that helps

Andy

Thanks - the antenna doesn't seem to want to retract fully. I thought it might be easiest to get a new one from one of the traders on here and fit the whole thing. I will remove the trim and have a look today. Thanks for the tips.
